I'm a fan, so as a fan:

I can't stand Chris Scott and his passive aggressive, superior, narrative control freak schtik. Seems like a good coach to play for, but i'm a watcher....and he gives me the irritts big time. Ponce.

I also can't stand Ross Lyon and his horrible to watch hot garbage. Like Kerry Stokes, he must really hate football fans. Also seems like a creep.

Also, like all Port fans, i just love Ken. Such a loveable good bloke.

Honestly, I get the most enjoyment out of Salty Chris.

Salty has probs been to the anger management consultants, the public image consultants and the beauty technicians to get it all smooth. But.

There are a half doz episodes each year when all this work goes **** up and ol' mate goes back to the home of the seething St Kevs bully. Can't help it, hasn't been able to stop it. Pussfunny to watch.

Don't hate coaches. The stubbornness of Dimma is high level, that was frustrating.

Richmond from 1983-2012 made finals in 1995 and 2001. So 2 years of finals (although prelim finals) in a 30 year stretch.


Dockers from 1995-2023, might as well make it 2024 as well as I dont think freo will make finals in 2024, Made finals 8 times in 30 seasons. Not great. But looking at those years.... 2003, 2006, 2010, 2012-15 and 2022. Only made back to back finals in 2012-5. Again... 8 years out of 30. I would of loved freo to have made finals in 2005 and 2021. that means back to back finals in 2005-6 and 2021-22 along with 2012-15. It still would of been 10 years of finals but at least those back to back finals eras would of stood out.

If my team is and was gonna make finals 8 times in 30 seasons, I could tolerate a 5 or 6 or even 7 years of no finals if that means back to back finals or finals for 2 or 3 years in a row at the end of the 5-7 year rebuild.

Port Under hinkley made finals in 2013-4, 2017, 2020-21 and 2023. 5 finals wins from 2013-21 isnt bad.

Carlton has only won 4 finals since the end of 2001.

My only grievance with Bad Scott is he remains the only man out there that is probably ever a chance to run down Ken as the least successful coach of all time statistically.

After that the race becomes not the most games coached without a grand final appearance but the most games coached without a premiership.

You would think Rocket would be impossible to run down with 377 games across 3 clubs and only 1 GF appearance, but who knows with David Koch at the helm. Ross the Boss also feels uncatchable given he is active with 329 games and 4 GF appearances. John Northey seems a stretch (315 games, 1 GF appearance), and Bob Rose a very good chance of getting bumped down the list (282 games, 3 GF appearances).

There was nothing surer than GWS winning that semi.

Imagine what the past decade would’ve looked like if Port had a coach with,

1) more than two brain cells to rub together,

2) who could actually retain anything like a home ground advantage when the sun goes down.

And we keep being told what a wonderful job he does? A nightmare without end.

You can't measure yourself off of the 2000s era Carlton and Essendons though. That's a loser attitude and if that's your measuring stick, you'll never, ever win a flag, which is why Koch is so damaging as a chairman. He's gutted the culture that made our club so successful.

Notably Freo are one of 12 different clubs to have made a grand final since Ken Hinkley was hired. Port aren't one of them.

I think you'll probably make the 8 in 2024 and continue to build. You've got a slight issue where 2 of your most highly paid and talent players play the same position and don't play that well out of position, but aside from that you've got a great spread of young talent all over the field. I think you've rebuilt well and are in a good position, it's just about pushing that rebuild on.

You have to believe better things are possible and hold your administration to account for achieving them. Even if just making the finals half the time like perennial loser Ken Hinkley would be enough for you, you don't get that by aiming for making finals, you get that by aiming higher and demanding more.

2014 semi final v Fremantle.
2015 round 21 v Hawthorn.

When Port beat top 4 teams in SA they get praised by all and sundry with Ken lauded as a superhero. See the games against Brisbane and Melbourne at Adelaide Oval this year.

On the other hand, Brisbane beat top 4 teams in QLD and the media just say meh those are games the Lions are expected to win.
