He is the first to admit when his club has an unfair advantage, please. Rarely loses his cool and when he did after that umpiring performance it was pretty justified. Always gives credit to the winning team/coach in his presser after a loss. He’s never claimed to be perfect and at least holds himself accountable (example after the Sydney presser) and still gets torched by oppo fans when he slips up like any normal person would.
Plus there was no issues with umpiring in the week following so why would it need to be mentioned? Goes to show how bad it was. Pies were the deserving winners over Brisbane.

Yeah, of course Kenny’s behaviour wasn’t particularly dignified. It’s not what I would have done. But the only rule against it is the very arbitrary catch-all of “bringing the game into disrepute” used to keep the broadcaster happy. Hence the fine gentle slap on the wrist with a wet lettuce leaf

May depend on how gracious each individual expects others in winning positions to behave.

As far as I was concerned, one coach looked like a deadset idiot, while the other very stoically addressed the scene (as he was asked to do), then moved on so no heat was added to an already hot situation.

Was very happy that the latter is the coach of my club.

Interesting how the profile/current success of the club coached matters with things like this.

I mean Clarko is an a grade ********.

Dirtiest of players.
Punches holes in walls.
Homophobe.
Tries to coerce player's partner to get an abortion.
Abuses umpires at junior games.
All round small man syndrome.

But he coaches North so nobody cares.

Also took hawthorn players to Tasmania immediately after bushfires to repair fences and help locals.

Did the same in Gippsland multiple times.
Turned up without invitation on numerous farms and said “what do you need help with”.

He then rode his bike from Melb to South Gippsland to raise funds for Bushfire affected communities.

Calling him a homophobe is a stretch. He used a word in the heat of the moment after one of his players was take out, he didn’t denigrate a sexuality.

My cousins kid who was a slated first round draft pick a couple of years ago did his ACL only months out from the draft. The first person to get to him in the rooms was Clarkson to tell him that his dream was not over.

I can see why people looking in from the outside could dislike him, as Clarkson is a hot head, but almost anyone who’s had anything to do with him loves him and can see that he’s a genuinely decent person and his many instances of going to people’s aid without any fanfare is a testament to this.

But as far as all the other coaches go, although not as stupid as Yze, they're all delusional for believing that they came up with their sides quicker ball movement on their own, when the truth is they all had their special needs met by the AFL to combat the Caracella system that Hardwick oversaw.

I would give him another year personally. See how he goes without the injuries. From what I’ve seen from him I don’t really rate the guy but maybe it’s not a big enough sample size to judge. This year will be interesting though.

It’s jealousy, let’s be honest. When you’re a successful side opposition fans will find any excuse to come after your club/coach. C.Scott wouldn’t cop this much if he wasn’t a genius coach.

He also wouldn't whine about being over worked and then take another "leadership" job with his club's sponsor which somehow isn't in the soft cap.

The same story plays over and over again. Success goes to people and clubs heads and once the arrogance builds up to a certain level, it's hard to ignore as a fan. Clarko and Dimma both had it at their old clubs but it is diminished once they moved as it is human nature to pull your head in if things aren't going as well.

There's a difference between pride and arrogance and once you go past it, the public turn on you, especially in Australia.

With Clarko and now Sam over the last 2 decades we never needed another coach …… but I bet every other club would love to have had Scott. Over many years you can pull out small snippets of critical behaviour on any coach or player but at the end of the day Scott has run the club and adapted well during his tenure

Yeah, it's surprising Nicks is staying under the radar, 5 seasons without a finals appearance is too long. Maybe their management are playing the patient game with a supposed rebuild of the list? But it doesn't really feel like The Crows went all in on that rebuild, like in 2023 it felt like they relied heavily on their veterans. Bit of a mismanaged mess.

Not because of his coaching (Hell, even if God was coaching us with Jesus in the forward line and Lucifer as ruck, we’d still struggle to win).

Ken Hinkley, Brad Scott and then Matthew Nicks are objectively the worst coaches with their lack of success. Nicks has been coaching The Crows for 5 seasons with no finals appearances, Hinkley and Brad Scott are 12 seasons into coaching without a grand final appearance, Scott gets off the hook only slightly over Ken, because he reset at a second club.

Chris Fagan coached Brisbane to a straight sets finals exit after finishing top 2 on the ladder when he was the same age as Ken Hinkley.
Hinkley has a better win percentage than Fagan as well, both now and when Fagan was the same age as Hinkley.
