While it appears the North rebuild has been going for a few years, the reality is that we're in year 1 of a rebuild after a few false starts. There's a handful of players that form a really solid core, but a lot of rubbish to dispose of.

Not even. They usually play some kids in the first year of a rebuild.

North is where Melbourne was in 2013. Stuck with the remnants of a failed rebuild with a list that tried to cheat being competitive. After all, a lineup with an average experience of 112 games is a team trying to be a top 4 side. Or in this case, you've jammed the list tight with experienced spuds.

Year 1 is next year once you start to dismantle the cluster**** of a list you have

How do you know this isn't another false start?

Because we learned the hard way what happens if you don't do your due diligence on a coach, twice. If rebuilding with Clarko is a false start, at least it's a false start that 17 other clubs would have made given the chance.

Was a good test for the Crows. Just like the Hawks of the last three weeks dominated in patches but failed to capitalise.

Bad way to lose though against a side with such a short break.

Soligo was top 5 on the ground before he got injured

Pedlar was fantastic. Should have kicked 4

Chayce Jones was fantastic

Rachele should have kicked at least 2 and was superb

Michalanney, thilthorp and sholl all played well

Only bad kicking cost the crows that game. They will play finals this season and will push for the top 4 next year. Future is bright.

I guess its us. So many Crows youth were complete garbage.
Which ones?

Jones, Soligo, Rachele, Pedlar, Sholl, Rankine, Thilthorpe, Butts and Michalanny were all really good.

We cost ourselves with bad kicking, should’ve put the game away in the first half. Not the first and won’t be the last team to give up a lead against this Collingwood side.

0.4 when it should have easily been 3.1 ia not really good.

Its literally the most important part of the game ans they were all poor around the goals

Micbalanny was very good in defence though.

Can't see North or Hawks contending for 6-7 years.

One is playing with an average games played of 70-75 (least experienced in the comp). The other is playing with an average games played of 110-120+ (a list profile or a side who should be competing in finals).

Neither of that changes what I said. Hawks have gone the prune to the soil route.

After making some adjustments we are at least competitive. Won 8/12 quarters the last three games. Won a half against Geelong before we woke the giant.

North have been the reverse. Two good games and just utter shite ever since.

None of what you're doing now has much relevance, as when you begin contending again you'll have mostly different players.

We are building a core group from a young list. There will be more pieces to add but there is definitely a dozen or so players who we are building around and have all been responsible for our recent improvements in competitiveness.

It absolutely has relevance.

The last few weeks have been an improvement on the first few weeks but the fact is we have won 2 of our last 11 games. Those wins have been against Gold Coast and north Melbourne in Tassie. In those 11 games we have kicked over 80+ points once and have averaged 64 points a game.

Our forward line and back line are bottom 3 in the comp..I’m aware mitch Lewis has been injured and will make a difference but he has next to no help & that’s not changing for another 2-3 years until Max Ramsden develops .

It’s the same is the back line. Sam Frost is currently our best defender. He would struggle to get a game at any other club. James Sicily is not a key defender. James Blanck and Denver Grainger-Barras are stuck at box hill.

We will not play finals until we have another quality key forward and two quality key defenders.

Surprisingly, our midfield that was an embarrassment the previous three seasons has been fantastic this season and will only get better.

If it's a dozen then it'll be pretty remarkable.

In the context of this thread where we’re talking about youth, one week of bad goal kicking from a player who has a career goal kicking percentage of 61% is not all that relevant.

We need to work on our goal kicking no doubt, but you’re labelling our young players performance as “complete garbage”, when in reality most of them performed very well across most aspects of the game, against arguably the premiership favourites.

Lewis Moore Reeves Newcombe Day Nash Worpel Ward CJ Scrimshaw Macdonald

Recent draftees in McKenzie Weddle

Early picks who aren't yet consistent contributors in DGB and Butler but have shown flashes.

I've seen enough of most to be confident they'll make the cut of our next finals side.
