Re: Whitecross offered a week - And the Hawks challenge a patently absurd charge

For anyone interested in the AFL rules and how the tribunal works, these links take you to the relevant sections on the AFL official site.

AFL Laws of the Game

AFL Tribunal System 2012

"A player can appeal on the following points:

Error in law.
■■
That the decision was so unreasonable that no Tribunal acting reasonably
could have come to that decision having regard to the evidence before it.
■■
Classification of offence manifestly excessive.
■■
Sanction imposed manifestly excessive.
■■"

So I'm guessing we're appealing on the grounds "That the decision was so unreasonable that no Tribunal acting reasonably could have come to that decision having regard to the evidence before it."

This is the appeal process not the tribunal system itself.

These are the grounds which we could appeal if tonight goes against us

Re: Whitecross offered a week - And the Hawks challenge a patently absurd charge

Will contemplate turning up on the weekend in a brown and gold netball skirt with bib and AD mask should Whitecross' appeal fail :D

At least there's something to look forward to when he gets his two weeks :p

Re: Whitecross offered a week - And the Hawks challenge a patently absurd charge

I live in Switzerland...and woke up expecting this ridiculous charge to have been withdrawn by now.

WTF is going on with this...its ridiculous. Weren't the MRP former players? Surely they understand that this collision was unavoidable and contact to Selwood accidental?

100% support from this Cat fan.

Re: Whitecross offered a week - And the Hawks challenge a patently absurd charge

Just contacted a reporter at the hearing-I'll update as soon as I get some info back.
They've been in there about 30mins-thought it should be thrown straight out-the longer it goes on the more I fear the outcome.

Andrew McKay and James McDonald both proved over their tenures how MRP members had no qualms bringing their club loyalties into their assessments. In this instance, the MRP members clearly don't have the testicles to disregard the incident on the substance of it. Mark Fraser, Peter Carey, Paul Broderick et al are ruining the game by their inability to correctly call the situation.

Of course, had the incident involved a Collingwood player, I'm sure Fraser would have found a reason for the incident to be disregarded.

The members are as much a blight on the game as Adrian Anderson's system.

Re: Whitecross offered a week - And the Hawks challenge a patently absurd charge

Haha! Bayer, any stats on that one?

Meh, the MRP are intent on ruining the game, I'm getting some back by highlighting who's actually responsible. :thumbsu:

Re: Whitecross offered a week - And the Hawks challenge a patently absurd charge

The worst part about it being Whitecross, is it means that Breust, Osborne and Bateman will probably all stay in the team. All three need to be dropped, but it won't happen with Whitey missing.

Selwood's head ducking is legal, so someone has to go. In this case it is Whitecross.

Selwood "head ducking" isn't relevant in this incident.

Can't help yourself HP, can you. You ought to stop sucking on that lemon.

I fear you are right rdh..2 weeks as we suspected.Would be nice to see a miracle..oh well... The longer they take with a decision, the less chance we have of winning

Re: Whitecross offered a week - And the Hawks challenge a patently absurd charge

Have I got this right

Tribunal started at 6pm and it has gone midnight and NO decision.

May have missed something as I am in UK and 9 hours behind:confused:

Now I've seen it all, even from an Essendon supporter

When I saw it live, I thought to myself, I bet he gets done. What a joke the AFL is becoming.
