Coaches award had Bont number 1. Brownlow vote for Bont was split with Macrae and Dunkley.

59 Brownlow votes between them. I would take the coaches vote over the Brownlow which is an umpire fan boi award.

Coaches have demonstrated their own biases in their voting as well. It's just whose biases you prefer.

Bont scored 22 Brownlow votes and the coaches award. I prefer no bias. Next?

You know where Fyfe finished in those awards right. There was also a little two game buffer he gave Bontempelli and also when he gave up an almost certain 10 votes in R3 when he decided to get himself knocked out halfway through the 3rd quarter.

And just because there were others at the Dogs score well, it doesn't mean they "stole" votes from Bontempelli. Acting as if he was certain to win the vote/s if his teammate didn't is clutching...

People underrate Josh Kelly in my opinion.
A brilliant footballer. Very similar to Simon Black.
Can play around stoppages and instantly give you plenty of clearances or play as the designated ball carrier.
He'll dominate on Saturday.

Mitchell I tend to feel is more like a Patrick Cripps. Absolute beast around the contests. Literally unstoppable in getting the footy but not the most damaging footballer given a lack of goal prowess and disposal use.

After his GF performance I have pushed Josh Kelly out of my original top ten. Simply didn’t step up on the big stage. Doesn’t seem like a big game player. Can see your comparison to Blacky, but Simon played his best ever game (according to the man himself) on grand final day. Kelly has a LONG way to go if he is to be ever talked about in the same conversation as Black.

How did he go in the previous two and the one following the Norm Smith?

Before the finals, there was some good arguments as to who the best mid was.

After the finals it's easy

1. D Martin

If anything it confirmed to me that he isn’t.

Spending/spent a fair bit of time up forward and was used as a link man at HFF for a lot of the finals series. Isn’t doing the full time midfield minutes that Danger/Cripps/Neale/Fyfe pump out week in week out.

Certainly a top 3 player in the competition and as it stands form has him at 1.

I'm sure you understand that your coach has very few players to give votes to. Bont is 23. Has a premiership medal at age 20. He spends less time in the midfield than Fyfe and it's a midfelders medal. "Almoset certain 10 votes in round 3". Now that's clutching.

Put it away mate

Im sure you understand that he has 22 opposition players he can give them to also!

I bet you can tell me all about that round 3 game vs the saints too...

Not sure what you mean by the one following the Norm Smith mate?

BTW - love your avatar, seeing that little fella and his old mans reaction brought a tear to my eye. Hope he is doing well

The one where he got 3 weeks off to start 2005!

Ahh.. been a long day, thought you were referring to Kelly - my bad! 🤪

In 2001 he had the 2nd highest tackle count for the game and number 2 for pressure acts. Big impact.

In 2002 he had the 4th highest possession count in the game and kicked a goal. Big impact.

In 2003 he played the best game of his career.

In 2004 like many lions players, he had a below par game for his high standards.

So basically, Black was sh*t in his first grand final appearance, satisfactory in his 2nd and then dominated in one after that.

lol, you idiot!

Lol he was FAR from sh*t in his first GF appearance. As I said, he had a big impact. Do yourself a favour and watch the replay. Then see who the ‘idiot’ is.

I think the top 5 is pretty set, you can change the order however you see fit. Could see any of the top 5 being rated #1 but they all have issues, e.g. Bonts goal kicking, Dustys consistency in the H&A season, Fyfes injuries etc. Then you have a bunch of midfielders from 5-15 who are all very even (e.g. Oliver, Macrae, Coniglio etc). As well as young guns who will be pushing for top 15 soon, e.g. Tarranto and McCluggage. I have omitted guys like Pendles (who had an amazing year) and Selwood as they are will be 32 in 2020.

1. Fyfe (2019 Brownlow medal)
2. Cripps (2019 AFL MVP)
3. Bontempelli (2019 AFLCA champion player)
4. Dusty
5. Dangerfield
-------------------------------------------------------
6. Tom Mitchell
7. Lachie Neale
8. Tim Kelly
9. Elliot Yeo
10. Josh Kelly
