Not trying to turn this into a ‘my team’s player should be there.’

but something that has gone relatively unnoticed generally beyond Geelong fans themselves is the return to form of Joel Selwood.

I have no idea how this stacks up to other mids across the comp but he’s averaging 25 touches, 12 contested, 5 tackles, 6 clearances, a goal assist. He’s probably been our best on baller this season considering Duncan has missed a bit of footy.Guthrie has had more ball but Selwood’s has been more important

Oliver has been better than Petracca. I'd even have Wines and McCluggage ahead of him at this stage. Petracca would have polled in more games than Oliver up until this stage, but mostly 1 or 2 voters. Clayton will get the BOG's.

i'd rathe
I was stoked when he left the Swans, so no salt from me
800k a year LOL. If we had bowed to his demands we would not have the crop of youngsters we have today.

His stats are identical to Mitch Robinson.
Nobody ever talks about Robinson as a top 10 mid.
i'd rather robinson ... mitchell might still play a good game here and there but, as with his team, he's irrelevant
the bloke still being ignored is touk miller ...

There's only 2 mids I'd swap Merrett for league wide Bont and Petracca, Oliver maybe as well but Merrett and his foot skills make that call hard.

No doubt I'm bias but there you go.
If i'm picking the AA midfield right now;

Gawn Oliver Tracc
Merrett Bont Clug
w/Parish, Miller & Wines on the bench.

Hawks no longer have any use for a top 5 mid. Apparently.
So they're going to trade him, for the price of a top 5 mid, so that they can go to the draft and draft a potential top 5 mid. Apparently.

Dunno.
There's a grey area between fact and fantasy on Bigfooty, that apparently is cleared up by Kane Cornes' musings on Footy Classified.

1. Oliver
2. Bont
3. Wines
4. Macrae
5. Petracca
6. Walsh
7. Merrett
8. McCluggage
9. Parish
10. Miller

Just outside:
Guthrie, Lyons, Boak, Steele, Mundy, Zorko, Libba

Thanks. Just checked and Melbourne's best two mids spend about 11% game time on the bench and Merrett spends just over 20%.

Interesting. No right or wrong I suppose.

Yeah good spot, So all ours seem to be 80, Merrett, Parish and McGrath are all with 1 % of eachother so that seems deliberate, Macrae Bont and Dunkley for 83, 85, 79 and as you said Trac and Clarry go 88, 89

It seems like a coaching thing rather than a fitness thing. Be interesting to know if those with big minutes are spending time resting forward, or spending more time on the ball. Essenden may prefer mids with quick bursts while Melbourne might prefer endurance.
