Who do you believe is the best young gun at your club, and also for the leauge? which player do you think has what it takes to become the next leigh matthews or wayne carey - onfield that is ;)? At the Roos, I think Digby Morrell will be the next big thing, but as for the whole AFL... Reiwoldt, a champion in the making.

Port Adelaide - Shaun Burgoyne. By all rights should finish 4th or 5th in the rising star, and given this crop of youngsters that's pretty ****ing good. As Gerard Healy said on the weekend, it is unbelievably exciting to see how he'll turn out.

AFL - Nick Riewoldt, Chris Judd, Luke Hodge. Those are self-explanatory, but I also think James Kelly is going to be a phenomenal player in the coming years.

Shaun Burgoyne, yeah. No one else is close, although Cassisi has good traffic sense.

In theory also Barry Brooks, but he's got a lot of developing to do.

Yeah, Barry Brooks is very good. I played a game against him last year in school football in southern Tasmania, and as you can guess he dominated.

He is only 18/19yo and he has a lot of talent. Port should try and hold onto him, a very good investment. Was picked up at no. 9 in the draft i think... good tall, young player.

Damon White also had some brilliant SANFL form before his season-ending injury this year. Was widely tipped to be in contention for an AFL game before this occurrence, and would slot in far better as a tall 3rd forward, rather than Lade.

And given he was touted as a top-10 pick in the year before he was actually drafted (he was injured), he could quite forseeably be a gun and take to senior footy.

Seems a tad injury prone, though.

15th, if I recall correctly. Porthos?

At richmond i would say Coughlan, worthy of a rising star nomination. As for the next for the next big name in the comp,i could'nt go past Nick Reiwoldt shows all the hallmarks of champion.

at West Coast:

1 - Judd
2 - Kerr
3 - Cox
4 - Gaspar
5 - Hunter

in the competition, there are so many young good footballers its getting quite redicolous thesedays. The cream of the crop though: RIewoldt, Judd, Kerr, Koschitzke, Hodge

Down here at Geelong we have plenty of great young guns. James Kelly I'd say would be one of our best, but there are plenty more. We have a great young team!!

Port - S.Burgoyne and Adam Morgan..
Cows - Stiffy Johncokk and Michael Doughty
Hawks - Hodge & Ries
Woods - McGough & Didak
Carlton - Wiggins & Prendergast
Freo - Medhurst (dunno how old he is, but fair leap..) & Siegert
Richmond - Coughlan & Rodan
Essendon - Welsh & Forster-Knight
Saints - Riewoldt (HELLO! :D ) and Wulf
Bullies - Giansiracusa & Murphy
Dee's - Jolly & Lamb
Brissy - Charman & Headland (even though been around for a few years now, only just starting to fulfill his potential...)
Geelong - Kelly, Bartel, Corey & Ablett - bright future!!
Kanga's - Teague & Morrell
West Coast - Judd & Kerr
Swans - O'Keefe & Stevens

Port - Morgan??? no Burgoyne then Daylight.
Cows - maybe add Mattner? John**** a little over-rated i fear.

as for the out of towners
Lamb? - not overly exicted
Charman - yes good player
Geelong got heaps, also rate Johnson along with the above.
NM - Teague over Digby IMO
WC- Judd & Kerr both outstanding.
Freo - does Pav count (anyway will rival Junior Burger next year;) )

Forget Stiffy and Dogga Doughty, Mattner is a talent... the Crows best youngster. But then again, if you don't want him, we'll give you Koula in return for young Marty.

If Headland and Ries count on PortPremiers'02 's list then Pav, Hase and J Lo definitely count too then.

Headland & Ries have hardly played the amount of footy that Hasleby has!!

Headland has been ordinary until this year, IMO. Pavlich will be in the black white & teal next year, so didn't bother putting him on Freo's list of yungsta's... :D :p :D

Thought I'd struggle to find anyone under 30 at Carlton... ;)

Bulldogs - Mark Alvey
I can understand that a Port supporter may have that view given he played well against you this year. I'd love it to come true but there's many of our youngsters that I rate well ahead of him.

I can also understand a Port supporter who may not see many Bulldog matches not having Murphy in given he didn't have a very good day against your mob, but he's a clear number 1 at the Bulldogs in my view.

Fair call guey.. Saw Mattner play against the Maggies for Sturt earlier in the year and he impressed me greatly. Laid about 13 tackles or sumthin' about 4-5 weks ago by memory.. They must have him on the horse steroids or sumthin', 'coz he looks a lot physically bigger in a Crows guernsey than the Double Blues guernsey some 10-12 weeks ago!! Made Scotty Bamford look like Dean Lukin! :D

Obviously Bob Murphy, Gilbee, Birss, Hargrave are all talented, but when we played you guys this year, Alvey was for the most part, nothing short of unstoppable. I am a fan of your other youngsters, don't get me wrong, but Alvey looks to be closer to being a player that can take a game by the scruff of the neck, whereas the others are just very handy contributors at the moment.
