How many of his past seasons was he playing as a solo ruck?

even if u look way back these are pretty much career high averages

The problem is he is just struggling to compete with those guys now, i love Big Boy and always will but he is averaging his least amount of hit outs since his second season in the league (not including last year).

His effort and heart is still going at 100% but his body is just letting him down.

The frustrating thing is this hasn't come out of no where, we have had people on this board telling us for years his body was struggling. So we decide to extend his contract a year in advance? Seems a really odd decision.

I also agree with what someone mentioned above, it may be time to change the way we pick our captains. 3 straight captains struggling to hold on to a spot in the best 22 is just not good for the club.

Yeah so as I suspected, it's in the actual **** contests, not around the ground, where he's been as good as ever. If he was as good as say, 2018, do u reckon that helps our midfield woes much

That is an understatement. I love the guy but the end comes for all players. Sadly, he is still the best we have so not much else to do except hope reeves comes on quickly!

if this is the case, couldn’t he just go on the long term injury list, get us a MSD spot to get another ruckman in his place and then quietly retire at the end of the year? Surely the cash wouldn’t be that worth it if you want a long farming career at the end of it?

I'm saying he didn't see the cliff would come this quickly. Doesn't help that he can't get a spell at present. He's desperate for a week off, but we won't play Reeves, and Ceglar is even more cooked.

Yep, just needs a freshen up. Big ask to play 9 games straight in the ruck with the new rules and increased speed. No shame in getting rested for a week, would even make it two before the bye and skip the Darwin trip.

He finished 4th in the BnF last year and was easily one of our best, albeit playing in defence.

They pushed him back because they wanted to extend his career. Funny that so many here doubted this and were calling for him to perform solo ruck duties. I guess we can all see why we were persisting with Cegs for so long.

I'm hopeful Reeves can offer something. BB can still be a meaningful contributor, and I'd have him in play half a game in defence over Hartley, or as a forward over O'Brien.

As it keeps getting repeated, the players choose the captain. This was facilitated by Leading Teams. These aren't arbitrary decisions made in a vacuum. Though I agree JOM really seemed to have wanted it.

Moore and Langford both awesome but really only one can make it... (Moore for me, played full career at full back... but I want Langford in there too !!)

And Knights was how I ended up a Hawks supporter through and through...

Yeah my favourite player but Mew is CHB the best I have seen in that position. PK can play anywhere

The system is wrong. It has led us into error with the last 3 captains. Take it out of the players hands.
