Who does Picken go to??

I think Montagna. He carves teams up roaming the wing unattended and I really like Cross on Hayes and Boyd going head to head with Dal Santo. Think Cross can break even with Hayes at stoppages and Boyd can get over Dal. Cooney is ready to tear Jones a new one. Ray, Gram, Ball go into the mix with Griff, Ward, Eagle, Higgins.

Dal Santo has sometimes struggled with a hard tag so he's be a candidate for Picken.

Re: Cooney v Jones, I think Eade needs to try & get Jones uncomfortable, if he has to defend Cooney at times in the forward line it will make him very uneasy (just for short bursts).
Jones is very good around the stoppages but i doubt he'd go so well on a leading Cooney....& if Stk wanted to switch Dawson over to Cooney even better.

The way for WBD to win this game is with a variety of positive match ups in our forward line, i say variety because i think Eade needs to keep them guessing.

It probably won't happen this way, but i think Picken should go to Goddard. We can't do what we did last few times we played the saints. We have to make him accountable. I think Eages could just go one on one with Montagna. Cross will should take Hayes. The rest well....just one on one...no tags as such. Remember they have a few blokes in our team they have to worry about too.

Montagna must be shut down. If he racks up 30 we will struggle. Liam is young and fit and can win his own ball.

Possibly Eagle will take a turn on him as well.

Ideally i'd like to see Picken take on the more outside centre square player in Montagna than say a Dal Santo as that way we keep our better players in the centre square. Goddard will probably be too big for Picken and would push forward on him so I don't think that's an option.
Would like to see Picken rotate through Montagna/Gram/Ray whenever they're on the wing.

As for Goddard, I wouldn't be against Griffen going to him given the improvement he's made to the defensive part of his game.

I like this match-up.

Dunno if Picken is tall enough or good enough, but he'll keep Goddard honest and if Goddard is slack, Picken surprisingly knows where the big sticks are. IMO he could be a bit more than just a "defensive forward" - he knows how to kick goals.
