I do for one. I'm sick of the constant bleating from their players and supporters (A few players like Sachin, Laxman aside) about the Sydney Test and our 'racism' (Yet they're the ones chanting Monkey in the crowd  ).

I'd love nothing more than a 4-0 rout (Though I think it'll be a lot closer than that) then to proceed to smash them in the ODI's.

its a shame it wont happen.

what chance have you got with bryce mcgain as your #1 spinner? lots of holes in the batting lineup also with ponting, jaques, hussey, watson vulnerable to spin bowling. no symonds and gilchrist means it's unlikely you will be blasting out of jail like you normally get to do in pressure situations. and i fancy our batting lineup doing well against your bowlers, none of who have bowled a ball in a test in india. lee and clark will do alright without going through our lineup, but johnson and mcgain will struggle.

oh and, we want to smash you just as much as you do ;)

Well as 2004 proved we can at least win in India, the Indians have never won a single test series in Australia or even in south africa.

Pretty poor for a team that keeps stating it's the one poised to be number 1 sooner rather than later.

Lee and Clark go alright? Two best fast bowlers in the world (Outside Steyn).

I'm not going to bag McGain either until he plays a few games. I mean if India are such brilliant players of spin then they would be able to spank say a Shaun Udal around the park on the 5th day yeh? Oh wait, he took a 4 fer and won England the match  .

Ponting and Hussey vulnerable to spin? Rubbish mate, where is the proof? Ponting was vulnerable to Harbajhan but I'm confident he'll make runs in India.

I hope Johnson doesn't even play, Siddle should take his spot.

how did lee and clark go over here? they did alright but nothing exceptional. picked up wickets here and there but were never a massive threat. they failed to do anything in perth so what chance have they got in india?

traditionally we have had issues with off spinners and left arm spinners actually. murali/panesar go alright against us. on the other hand, we murder leg spinners, of any kind. mcgain's career could possibly be finished after this series.

well considering hussey has rarely played high class spin on subcontinent pitches it's reasonable to assume he will be up against it. as for ponting, he averages 12 in india over 8 tests. enough said really. bar the test in adelaide he didn't look too confident against harbhajan here either.

i doubt they'll overlook johnson for siddle.

when was the last time any team won a series in australia?

and like i said in the ganguly thread, its kinda hard to beat the #1 team in the world when they have an extra player playing for them every time.

the umpires?

hmmm, visiting teams playing in india/pakistan have never felt the wrath of the umpires before

Heard it all now, the neutral umpires favour Australia? Not our fault that as well having the best domestic structure, best administrators & best domestic competition we also have the best umpires however due to laws brought in to directly stop sub-continental (ie. India & Pakistan) teams blatantly cheating & being open to corruption we cant have the best umpires umpiring the best teams - the best administrators get pushed of the ICC in favour of cashed up shortsighted cowboys.
I love the passion for cricket in India but the BCCI does nothing to improve cricket in India or around the world & the shame is with so much money & power they could do a LOT of good. Too selfish, too corrupt.

Sorry i only meant to mention umpires but couldn't stop - even now want to keep typing........

mate that was 20+ years ago.

Exactly. Take a look at Harbhajan's hat-trick against Australia at home in 2001, 2 of the 3 dismissals were howlers. Disgusting.

only one was. the warne one wasn't what you'd call a howler. compare that to getting a huge nick through to the keeper on the other hand and not being given out....that is a howler.

OMG - this from an India fan.

Hilarious.

so when was the last time we were favoured by an umpire to an extent that it actually cost the opposition team the series?

Ummm....see above 2001, difference is we dont extrapolate this to mean a series loss. Balances over time & the best usually ends up on top. We shouldn't have let the 2001 series get to a position where umpiring was a factor we had it wrapped up & let it go, fair enough. Suck it up & get on with it no shame in getting whipped by best in the world, dont get mad get better.

can you tell us when neutral umpires favoured australia?

really australia, as posters have said, are inexperienced, no top line spinner. we're the underdogs. india at home, massive crowd have got a huge opportunity to win the series here.

It's nice to smash anyone but I can't see us smashing India in India with this line up. However i wanna see how mcgain goes. Warney never did great over there but maybe Mcgain can.

nb So much is going to fall on the shoulders of Michael Clarke and Matthew Hayden for this series I think so we will want them to stay fit.

Isn't that the point of every series? You never exactly go into a series wanting to be smashed, even when there's been controversy less outstanding than this/last year..

A win in the series seems a fitting way to see out what might possibly be Tendulkar's last series playing against Australia, and although they may be going in as underdogs with an inexperienced team and no iternationally established spinner, the combo of Lee/Clark and Hussey/Clarke can't be underestimated to help lift them to a win.
