Opinion Who gets the snip? Keeffe, Mackie, Schade & McCarthy confirmed, see post #342

Let me see if i've got this right...

We need to have a minimum of 3 live picks in the draft. This can include rookie upgrades if we want... but as we only have 1 rookie left on our list in Max Lynch i think its fair to say that upgrade won't be happening in the draft.

Off our Senior list has gone White, Keeffe and Schade. Which equals 3 spots free on our list saved for the draft.

If we trade in any player we must either trade out a player or delist one.

How'd i go?

So I got this right yeah?

Cox isn't a rookie. He is on the list.
No, he is a rookie. He was only upgraded through Sinclair’s LTI this year. We are required to upgrade him on to the primary list this draft.

He has to be elevated to the primary list as a cat b rookie.
Got promoted due to Lti
Ps just got beaten to it.

So Keeffe, Thomas, Schade and Cox ALL got upgraded off the Rookie list due to LTI's in 2017???

This doesn't sound right.

Sinclair LTI - agreed... Oxley??? who else was on the Long Term injury list? Cox was for Sinclair... who were the other 3?
Keeffe got promoted before the season started to the primary list.

So how many Primary list spots do we have vacant at this point of time?
Not sure if schade got the last primary upgrade or not, but if he did that would make it White, keeffe and schade off the list so far. 40 on main list maximum
So 37 now at the most. 36 if schade was an lti upgrade
But l presume that cox and Thomas will be upgraded the the main list as of new contracts.
So there will be more delisting to follow as we will pick more than one at the draft.

For anyone who cares Sier 100% has been offered (and signed) a contract for next year.I didn't ask if it was rookie or main list but will be on our list next year for sure. Just for people waiting for the possibility of more delistings.

Taking that information on face value, I'd be happy for the year.
Firstly I'd like to see him with a full pre season and a good run at it injury free wise.
Looks like a monster so to speak.
Might be a nice type if develops etc.
Prepared to be patient.
Oh, comes cheap!

He looks great but has shown too little in terms of longevity or productivity. I lack your saintly view, Saintly Viewed. I don't think you'll ever see him in a genuine best 22 list.:(

Keeffe got promoted before the season started to the primary list.

So did Schade. They were effectively the 39th and 40th players on the senior list.

Thought so, but could not quite remember it properly thanks

Seems to have the tools so it might come down to luck and application.

Keeffe was upgraded to the primary list in the 2016 draft. Schade was upgraded in March as the preseason upgrade because we had a primary list of 39.
Cox upgraded for Sinclair.
Thomas upgraded for Oxley.

With Schade and Keeffe and White gone two primary list spots have opened up. One needs to be taken by Cox as he’s been on the rookie list for 3 years. Thomas can potentially be retained on the rookie list for another year but I’d expect him to be upgraded. If that happens we have 1 senior list spot available, so expect to see another 2-3 delistings from the senior list before the draft at a minimum.

Sier signing a contract does not mean that he stays on the main list I believe, although I suspect he will.

I suspect that the remaining players to go will be Ramsay in a trade to WA, Blair and then possibly one of Oxley/Sinclair.

That will leave 5 spots with one already taken by Thomas and it looks like one with Murray.

That leaves 3 picks in the draft I think?

oops: forgot the Cox upgrade......

I thought Sier was going to get delisted, but it's great that he's got another year at the pies, unless he can try and play an AFL game.

You have missed white’s retirement. Agree more tweaking of the list to come

We probably need to see how trade week pans out but if we get no nibbles on our out of contract players (Sinclair, Ramsay etc) then we offer them 1 year deals on reduced money.

They can then decide if they stay on and work hard to regain their spot (giving us depth at reduced cap spend) or delist themselves (which opens up another list spot and gives more cap space). Win/Win.

5 or is it now 6 years on the list for Broomhead. It's not looking good for him. Most quality players find a breakout year somewhere in the first couple of years. But he is yet to be considered a best 22 player and not sure what his role is going forward.

For me, if he survives this trade period this is his last year otherwise he gets trade for 4 th round pick or delisted.

True, it's make or break, but I think he's shown the talent. Injuries have crueller him. And he hasn't found consistency. But every now and hen he does something brilliant.

I've got no firm expectations regarding Ramsay and Broomhead, but I've at least got more of a hope that they'll establish themselves in 2018. If they don't, they --and throw Aish in this category as well-- will likely be turfed out along with Smith, Oxley, and Blair (who I reckon is a chance to finish up this year).

I could see them keeping Blair around just for his age profile and leadership. But still, of all those players I think Broomhead has the most obvious talent, then Aish, then The others pretty much at a level.
