Opinion Who gets the snip? Keeffe, Mackie, Schade & McCarthy confirmed, see post #342

Did we really just delist 2 KPP who have shown they can play at AFL level? Seriously.

Yes Keefe hasn't been great but Schade seems like an odd decision to me. Been at the club for one year, was serviceable when in, and probably worst of all our KPP stocks are absurdly slim as is....

Must have a whole lot of faith in Mclarty.
I would have kept one on the rookie list. Either/or

Wow they are some ballsy calls. If only because it leaves us with hardly any key position players. White, Keeffe, McCarthy, Schade all goners. We aren't linked to any key position players through trade either.

It leaves us with Grundy, Cox, Lynch, Moore, Reid, Dunn, Goldsack and McLarty at ruck and key position. That is zero depth given we're likely to start 6 of those 8. Just wow! We've gotta have something up our sleeves.

And Nankervis.

Who exactly told Dimma he had to STFU and listen and who determines when he needed to?
Yeah forgot nankervis, don't take me so literally Jack but obviously he's had a change of heart in the way he went about his coaching compared to last year and has even stated so publicly and obviously has been in part a reason for that club's success

I have no idea what happened to Schade after his great early season form. There was a reason he started the year in the team over Dunn. Based on his VFL form in the second half of the year this news doesn't come as a surprise.

I agree with the Keeffe call. Its surprising to me though given our KPP stocks and the fact we went to a lot of effort to keep him on the list for 3 years after you know what happened. I'm surprised the club was prepared to be so cutthroat, a good sign though I think.

I wasn't as impressed by the flashes McCarthy showed as what many on here were. But its harsh on him given he only got a handful of games to show us what he could do. You'd expect this to be related to his injury.

That's 3 KPP players gone just like that. Hopefully that confirms we've got our eyes on a few over the trade period and particularly in the draft.

At last we make room on our list for more mid fielders that couldn't hit a target if we were the only ones on the ground.

Hard to get a read on what’s going on at Collingwood these days!
No to Schache confirmed and will be quieter than normal
The ONLY thing I can conclude is it’ll be a BIG one next year!

Yeah Walshy said so on the site, another interesting note. I don't usually have faith in what Waldron says - speculation at best but it is speculation at least. I'd like to think Aish would have some currency at the right club.............. someone who has a kpp

A bit surprised by McCarthy. With his injury, raw athletism and potential position I thought he was sure another year.
On the other hand the games I saw I thought he lacked the intensity a bit for KPP AFL football. I remember thinking to myself, this guy thinks he's still playing basketball. Also I never seen coaches from the sideline shout and instruct a bloke during training and matches. Think he may have been struggling with that side of game sense. Still surprising and disappointing. Might be something we don't know.
I'd say it is definitely something we don't know

Surely we'd be looking at kpp's we have an abundance of mids and a lot of clubs need them of varying types. If we don't pursue a kpp then I don't know what they're thinking at the holden centre

Number 23 available.

Schache? For late pick, not 6.

Or just 23 for another future good one, McLarty?

I hate delistings. I know it has to happen, but I always feel for the affected guys.

Anyway, its brutal, but it has to happen. To continue down the brutal path, how much will these delistings free up of the salary cap?

Pure guesswork but wouldn't think it'd be any more than $500-550k. $600k absolute max allowing that Keeffe and Schade might be on higher base contracts and match payments, Mackie and McCarthy on base rookie contracts.

I would have rather "you do coke laced with WADA banned drugs youll lose your spot on an AFL list"

If it was only as simple or as isolated as 2 blokes on 1 occasion.

Can usually tell the shape of our trading/drafting strategy by the nature of the delistings.

Have to assume we're going tall in the ND/PSD.

Lets me get my head around this. Schade just turned 24 years old and ranked number 23 in the entire competition for efficiency for kicks/handballs use. He is 197cm tall and plays as a key defender. He played on Buddy Franklin in Sydney and Buddy did not kick a goal. Yep delist him.

After all the other key backs are Goldsack and Dunn who are shorter and 31 years old in 2018.

Keep Mayne, and Blair on the list for 2018 just to name a few.

My question is who makes these list decisions as they are absolute clangers!

Bit rough on McCarthy. The rest can go.

This leaves our developing/reserve KPP stocks as McLarty and literally nothing else...
Well it does point to us going for height this draft
