Seeing as it's clear from your post that you don't need to provide any evidence or details of your skills in order to be a hero poster ... then yes, I have played football before.

I was a legend. I kicked a quarter of my teams score one game. The fact that we only kicked 4 goals is irrelevant.

2 of my 4 career goals came against the same club after handball receives from the same player.

4 flags in a row from U11s (1983) to U14s (had a couple of future WAFL players in our team). At 5'4" with feet (size 11) that were waiting for my body to grow into them my parents decided that the jump to U16s would have to wait and that was the end of it until a run in the Sunday League Reserve Grade during Uni. Man I was outstandingly mediocre.

The best part for me was we never had anymore than 20 show with either club I was involved in so you always got a run!

my u14s side was incredibly bad, we lost 15 of 15 games and ended with a percentage of 36

i played full forward every game except one, i was centre half forward

it was the only time ive hated football

I played a few years of club footy and school footy when I was younger, but i've got more knowledge from a lifetime of watching the game than I do from the few years I played it.

I had a very serious disease called Birchall-Young syndrome. If I went within 10 metres of a contest I would shit myself. Similar to the two blokes the syndrome was named after.

Hmmmm....Interesting POV. I do definitely agree with your first assertion, yes you can understand football and all it's nuances from being an observer.

As to having learned more from watching than playing I have to disagree.

By the sounds of it I may have played a lot more footy than you and was also involved around the periphery of coaching, which gave me a far greater understanding than I could have ever attained by watching and listening to the 'experts'.

I played the full season with my school - which granted was only six games - and have gone through a pre-season with the North Shore Bombers. However, Year 12 has caught up with me so those plans are on hold until next year. I played in the forward pocket if you wanted to know my position.
