Who is this kid Schuback, can anyone give me the lowdown on this guy? Why is he playing in the side above Gags, Doughty, Reilly, etc.? (...unless they are also playing and I just haven't heard it)

I'm not that worried about this week's game as some of the rest of you are because I have faith in the soundness of our squad and our depth. Plus, we have got perhaps the best one-two punch in the business with McLeod and Carey. On-field prescence counts in a game like this and nobody imposes himself on a game like Carey - even at 32.

Sorry I digressed there, but like I said, can anyone tell me about Schuback? Is he good enough to play with the big boys?

Oh yeah, one more thing... why isn't Rutten getting more P/T? 3 goals from your first 4 possessions isn't bad for a 19 year old kid (who looks pretty big and strong for 19 years at that).

Has played great for Glenelg in the SANFL. Is a goal kicker. :)
About playing with the bigboys - There's always a first time!

IMO: I would have picked him before Skipworth last weeek, but then again, I would've put Dogga back in the side ages ago. ;)

Well it appears to me Schuback was picked because he has had better SANFL form recently. Since moving to Glenelg he has been a regular in the best players and has proven to be a goal kicker. He had much better SANFL form to Reilly all of last year so to be honest he was probably unlucky not to play a game before Reilly. Schuback is probably more versatile too being able to play in defense and as a small forward aswell as in the midfield.

Not a good sign for James Gallagher. Must be in danger of being delisted.

You were going alright up until then.

God I am glad you are not on the match commitee. If you were no player would have been picked on their merits.

Skipworth has been the best midfielder going around in the SANFL all season. His form this year has been nothing short of superb. Schuback's for has been very good since he has crossed over to Glenelg but if we are picking players on form then Skipworth shits all over Schuback and Doughty put together.

lacrow, Schuback is a promising youngster that is a bit of a utility. He can play forward, defence or midfield equally as well. When he plays in the forward line he is a genuine goal kicked who has been kicking anywhere from 2-5 goals for Glenelg this year. He has a thumping left foot kick and is a good overhead for his size. He is a bit of a tough nut so him mixing it up with the big boys will not be a problem. I still think he is as good a talent as Reilly if not better.;)

Don't agree with this at all. The reason Schuback was picked is because he play same sort of role as Ladhams. Ladhams is a bit of a goal kicker as is Schuback where as Gags is not. Gallagher will not get delisted he has played half a dozen games this year which is more than Doughty. Its just the case of bringing in a player that is similar to Ladhams.

Gallagher is a bit restricted in the sort of role he plays. He is primarily a wingman who can play onball where as Schuback is comfortable anywhere

But that's the point isn't it?

Gallagher can't be used in any other position. That's why I think he is in danger of being delisted. Not saying he will be but that he could be on the edge.

He can only play as a wingman and with our exceptional depth in the midfield Gallagher is on the end of the list of midfielders. So the fact that he can't play anywhere else and he's not particularly young anymore, I don't think done enough to convince that he is required. Add to that Doughty is a very similar player who seems to be more favoured of the two (even of Gags has played more games this year) I don't see a real need for both of them and Gallagher could be delisted.

Stffy, Schuback would have been my choice for his ability to kick goals.:)

If someone asked me to either put my money on Gallagher getting delisted or Doughty getting traded, I would put on on the 2nd one.;)

No doubt we will try to trade one or both of them. Second string midfielders aren't great trade bait. I hope we do, though.

So, is anyone going to swallow their pride about Shuey? Really looked the goods out their last night.
I said last year he was a better prospect than Reilly.

Schuback will be a very good player for us in years to come. He is the type of player that John Reid loves. Tough and hard.
