Barham was pretty adamant that Ben was let go because we need an experienced perspective.

I would be going hard at Ken Hinkley. Good person, articulate, comes from successful cultures...he's the one

All I hope is that we go through a proper process and don't do anything stupid like bring back Hird or have the role filled by next week.

I'm certainly not going to defend those decisions. The last few years of long tenured coaches are often pretty rough, including great coaches like Clarkson.

But I maintain that Scott pretty consistently exceeded expectations while at North.

He will not win you a premiership

I'm happy with Lyon to come on board with a three year contract where we go through the process of auditioning younger coaches as his assistant and Lyon does a 4th year as senior assistant to new senior coach.

The idea of Pyke, Leppitsch, Teague, Cameron or Bolton coaching Essendon is even less appealing than Knights or Hird coming back a decade after sacking and no senior coaching elsewhere. Hinkley ... lol
