If Caracella was open to a senior coaching gig then I'd be hugely disappointed if we haven't approached him along the way.

Seemed a standout candidate to me worthy of interview at least.

Assistant at Collingwood under Malthouse for the 3 seasons immediately prior to our 2010 Premiership year, was by Chris Scott's side when in his first season as coach they defeated us for the 2011 flag, went to Richmond at the end of 2016 and helped Hardwick guide Richmond to their first flag in over 35 years and now in just his second year at Essendon he and Rutten have them ending the season with a bang.

Caracella's presence has to be seen as more than just a coincidence now surely and it's evidence he value adds to whatever club he goes to.

Most convincing resume out there among assistants

Taken from a trusted poster at Nick's.

I heard three weeks ago from a 20 year game day staffer and long time mate at Richmond that Kingsley and McRae were on the very short lists.
Kingsley remains at Richmond and McRae has recently moved from the Tigers to the Hawks. Both are considered serious options to take a young team with little expectation forward.
His mail also suggested that Collingwood felt Pyke was still bitter with the media and that his best work was being done as an assistant rather than the front man. Supposedly Scott also couldn’t convince them he really wanted it. The mail is also true on Voss in that he was right in the mix but he felt Collingwood were years away. The club felt ( whether right or wrong ) that Voss was buying time in the job rather than genuinely believing what the group was capable of.

Fly McRae is an absolute ripper and is good “ football “ mates with Wright. Apparently Wright has endorsed him all the way through the process.
I can only repeat what I hear and I heard it from a Richmond source and mate who has given me good mail for many years ( as well as the odd red herring )
Posters can make of that whatever they choose.

Comments from Wrighty when the Hawks got McRae from an article in The Age.

Hawks football boss Graham Wright said McRae's coaching experience was impressive.

“He is highly skilled in developing talent and helping players improve their craft, having worked as a development coach at Richmond, Collingwood and Brisbane," Wright said.

"We are rapt to have someone of Craig's experience join the fold and feel he can play a real role in helping us improve both on and off the field.

"Craig is not only a good coach, he is a great character and we are looking forward to having him join the Hawthorn family."

We have put our faith in Wright to restore normal order.

Carlton went for him a few years ago before he opted to stay at Hawthorn.

Let’s hope our faith is rewarded

There’s an awful lot hanging on GW getting it right.

Sure, but if we don’t achieve a premiership, that won’t be definitive evidence that GW’s coaching choice was the mistake which lost it for us. A helluva lot goes into winning one.

Agree fully, that is the one choice we have to nail out of all this. I’m am however quite pleased with the direction the football club is now taking in regards to a known quality quantity in GW and the processes he has a large say of putting in to place.
