Collingwood will not necessarily target a big-name replacement for Nathan Buckley and are open to a first-timer being put in charge as the club embarks on their first in-depth process to find a new coach in decades.

Magpies football director Paul Licuria said the club did not have a preconceived idea of the type of coach it needed, whether that was an experienced hand or someone lower-profiled.

MM is 100% right - a Newbie would be completely overwhelmed especially when the media dogs start circling during a stretch of losses.
They give little respect to Newbies as we are currently seeing with Teague.
Only a seasoned Coach can effectively deal with that pressure and manage ( ie. intimidate ) the media.

Interesting video. Honestly I think his personality while coaching comes across as slightly unlikable and not genuine. Couldn't quite out my finger in it while watching but it didn't resonate with me at all.

Thought the moment where he was on the phone directing the player to play on the other side of the ground and said thank you at the end felt passive aggressive and weird.

Honestly that video could have been 20 different coaches and they all sound the same. We have to leave this process to the experts. Whilst the head coach will be critical in how our players move on, the assistants will be vital in the chain of command.

In my mind Mitchell hasn't done a thing to warrant a senior coaching gig. It would be a bold experiment. If there is 3-5 year plan to win a flag, then surely a senior coach must be frontrunners in this process. Only a hand full meet that criteria.

I'm not sold on anyone, but I trust the club's judgement on this one.

The Mitch's 3 qrt time speach.. end of game.. he's backing his players to go out there and make the right choices.. leadership.. hardness.. collective aggressive mindset.. praising and not overly aggressive towards his players.. not overbearing.

Keeps everything simple really.. he's always been like that though.. in the media as a player.. not overly complicated..

One thing I got from watching that vid.. if I had the choice of the Hodge or the Mitch for the role.. I'd go the Mitch. What surprises me about the Hodge.. how critical he is of the players. Not good.

I'll back the GW the Lic and the Ando.. pretty sure they'll have a good idea if he can deal with the pressure of coaching at a big club.

That dinosaur thinks woman can't play AFL because of their body shape. Look up antiquated opinion in the dictionary and I'm pretty sure there's a picture of an old dude with a white moustache.

Also if you look up antiquated opinion at a KFC franchise.

Instead of a Mitchell-Choco combination, what about Kingsley-Choco?

Kingsley played under Williams and has been an assistant coach for about 15 years with three clubs. Very highly rated in the industry.
Any of Yze, Mitchell or Kingsley with Choco as a mentor figure is my ideal outcome
