The board mess needs to be sorted or we will end up worse off.

It will, one way or the other, I suspect now that Nathan's future is confirmed it will heel the mood among the masses. The club can move forward and in my mind it now puts Korda's camp in the box seat - so if Browne agitates he may lose the support it seems he's had.

Any prospective coach will be aware of what's going on and would probably be of the mind that this is not forever and stability will eventuate sooner or later.

Like the idea of Williams for a couple then Mitchell takes over, Or just go straight to Mitchell. either way need good assistants as well
Suggestion I heard on the radio.
Mark Williams for 3 years as head coach.
Scott Pendlebury to retire and be an assistant to Williams.
In 3 years Pendlebury to possibly take over from Williams.

So in three years we get a guy who currently, has no coaching experience and we have no idea if he can coach at all.

And we’re meant to be excited by that?

Just as 100 years of history was against Buckley it is against Lyon (and Brad Scott).

Lyon has held the role of senior coach for 13 seasons across 2 clubs and no coach has ever won their first flag beyond their first 9 years in the job.
I don’t want Lyon and I felt the club needed a fresh start from Bucks, although I still respect the man.

In terms of there being no correlation between coaching for more than 9 years and a coach winning a flag - it’s not a super fair reason to say we shouldn’t hire someone due to the skewed data from most coaches simply never getting that opportunity.

There were 16 years between Malthouse’s 2nd and 3rd premierships. There were 17 years between Allan Jeans 1st and 2nd premierships (12 if you remove his 5 year break). There were 13 years between David Parkin’s 3rd and 4th premierships.

Of those who had the opportunity, it’s not in chartered territory.

It was from a nuffy listener, yeah? Surely no one with footy media credentials would have been stupid enough to float that! The one I heard relating to Williams was two years into Mitchell which I could swallow even if it isn’t my preference.

Over the last 30 years 9 (64%) of the 14 Premiership coaches were also Premiership players. Something else to ponder if making a decision between a Mitchell, Kingsley or Yze.

Over the last 100 years there has been 45 Premiership coaches . If you exclude the 7 individuals who filled the dual role as player/coach when winning a flag then 27 (71%) of the remaining 38 were also Premiership players prior to entering coaching.

It should be noted however that successful players throughout history would have been given greater opportunity to be a senior coach. It's how our human psychology works I guess. Whether more talented players also have a greater capacity to become a successful coach would remain open to debate.

Mark is a terrific coach from a players perspective and knows how to get the best out of people, his fault when he was at port was his match day stuff. I'm not sure what you would prefer a better tactical coach or a better day to day coach. As far as persona and if you have ever met him he is very similar to malthouse

I am hoping for an untried coach supported by an experienced assistant like Voss Williams or Leppitch. Yze , Caracella ,Mitchell all have big wraps.
If it has to be a name, then Clarkson.

I like the idea of mark Williams being involved... taking the reins for 1-2 years before a younger type takes over.

But by younger type I still mean an Yze, Caracella, Kingsley, etc... someone who still has extensive coaching experience, not someone as green as Mitchell is

Off his limited time as an assistant coach before taking over, Bucks is on record as saying it took him a couple of years to get his head around the job better

Although Bucks took over Mick‘s men (including the rat pack), who had just played in 2 GF, many strong personalities.
Didn‘t like being told how to suck lemons.
The Collingwood side of 2022 will be different kettle of fish.
Young & keen to climb the ladder. Easier to control & lead I think.

Mitchell is our man. He has a footy dept boss in Wrighty that knows him inside and out, get a couple of experienced assistants around him like Williams and Leppa for example also would love Solomon, and back him in to grow with the group we are in a rebuild and can grow together.
