The blose are rudderless right now, not the point, they can't stay crap forever. We have to flag before the 3 enemies but we're behind all 3, it's not good.
I was responding to this post - yes- we haven't had a dynasty for yonks which is painful but we still have more flags than Richmond (just)

Pickers said we weren’t interested in Lyon FWIW

Tom Brown / The Duck have both said they think Lyon is the Blues’ man - also FWIW
My initial reaction when Lyon declared he wouldn’t be interested in going to Collingwood (after declaring he’d definitely take the call when Bucks stepped down) and using the turmoil line for the reasoning, was that we weren’t interested in him and he wanted to save face.

Let’s face it, the Blues aren’t exactly in a stable position right now. Their footy dept is a shambles and nobody even knows if they’ll have a job in a week, including their GM. That’s a far worse situation than the pies are in right now imo.

How does that work? When you say "we're behind" it obviously implies flag totals.

Brisbane had a dynasty more recently than us - are we behind them?

No behind in rebuild or contending, thought that would've been obvious.

Maybe not behind time wise than the tuggers but certainly from draft / list position.

ah ok. Im not worried about Blues I think they will be hopeless for much longer. Essendon are a concern in widening that gap, they have rebuilt well. We can turn things around quickly though
Would like to think you are right - we are way way overdue for a dynasty

Yes we are behind them. BL have been in the AFL for what 34-35 years have won 3 Premierships and have made finals this year. We won 13 of 15 premierships more than 60 years ago. In their existence there has been
In 1917 we were lucky to win. There were 6 teams playing that season and we lost the PF and still made the Grand Final and won. Again in 1919, we lost the PF but still made the GF and won

In 1929 we lost the semi final but still advanced to the GF where we won. In 1930 we lost the PF to Geelong but advanced to play and beat Geelong in the GF.

Since BL have been in existence they have won more flags than us. With 16 teams in the competition. Yes they are ahead of us

I was in the next room to where Ed, Caro, Ross and Lloyd were going through the running sheet in prep for Footy classified last Wednesday night. I had a cup up to the wall eavesdropping on what was going down …

Ed: “See Ross, I told you you’d be getting a call from Carlton”

Ross: <sheepishly> “Yeah, you did, and gee it sounds like a good gig, but I reckon they’ll push for Clarkson”

Caro: “You’re exactly what Carlton need, look, why don’t we make the theme for this episode to lay the foundations to get you to Carlton?”

Ed: “Good idea Caro, right, what’s our strategy?”

Lloyd: “Are you lot for real? We’re a footy program, we’re not running a coach recruitment process for Carlton!”

Caro: “Look Matthew, you just need to be pragmatic sometimes”

Lloyd: “Don’t tell me what I need to do Caro!”

Ed: “Matthew, we know you’re conflicted with your brother at Carlton. So, Ross, how about we lead off with strong speculation that Carlton are into you?”

Caro: “I think I should do that Ed”

Ed: “Righto, you do that Caro”

Lloyd: “I can’t believe this bullshit!”

Ross: “Are you sure you want to do this?”

Ed: “Don’t worry Ross, we’ll scratch each other’s backs here. I’ll ask you about the Collingwood role, and if you’re able to intimate that it’s too unstable for you, that’ll be appreciated”

Ross: “What if I say that I would have been interested in the role if you were still there?”

Caro: “Oh c’mon, that’s laying it on a bit thick, don’t you think?”

Ed: “Nah, it’s perfect, thanks Ross”

Lloyd: “Are you lot for real?!?”

Caro: “Oh, shut up Matthew. And Ross, I’d appreciate a bit more credit for the work I did on Clarkson and Hawthorn. I got smashed over that, and in the end I was right and I reckon I deserve a bit more credit”

Ross: “Fair enough”

Ed: “All good, are we done here, we’re ready to go?”

Lloyd: “I can’t believe this bullshit!!!”

Caro: “Let’s go”

<sound of people shuffling out of the room and the door closing>

Lloyd: “Hey, you’ve locked the door, can you open it. HEY, LET ME OUT!!!” <bangs door loudly> “LET ME OUT!!!”
This ☝️ is gold!!

Sorry if this has been mentioned but they had a really good discussion about the coaching position for us on SEN’s Crunch Time. I’ve posted links to both the article on the discussion and the podcast, but I recommend listening to the full discussion if you have time. On the Full Show the discussion starts at 56.52 and goes for around half an hour. It was really interesting.

Everyone watch that pre game shit on Clarko and that re.. the lads were getting on da beeeeers in the off season.. where was Clarko re.. in the UK.. probably getting on da beeeeers as well.. haha.. but also learning all about the game of football.. revolutionised the game here re..

So when I said Buckley wasn't holidaying in the Bahamas for 3 mths at the end of 2017... how can you holiday for 3 mths re.. how can you holiday for 3 mths re.. what is this mate.. he was doing the same shit mate. Probably had a chinwag with Kloppo.. Fergi.. Alardyce.. went to a coupla at Anfield.

Is that greatness from the Gimp or what re.

Not correct as I understand it. The EGM will take place at the AGM.
For clarity if it’s an AGM 3 board members would be up for re-election, if it’s an EGM all positions are spilled for election/re-election is that correct? And for it to be an EGM they need to have so many members with voting rights to sign on to it?

I know someone was collecting signatures earlier this year but ultimately walked away from it because Jeff Browne’s crew were trying to use the prospect of an EGM spill to takeover the board without a vote. Did it ever get confirmed that he got enough signatures from members with voting rights to force an EGM?

Wow - Jeff Buckley back from the dead and taking on the Pies board......it's getting serious! :)

I think Browne would like to think he is getting all positions spilled at the AGM but unless something occurs legally it ain't happening.

If we’re playing this game, why don’t we then also talk about Rocca’s goal in ‘02 then the Tarrant/Lynch non-free/free and the Maynard non-free? Could easily be -1 for the Lions and +2 for the Pies in the AFL era. I don’t like when people use the woulda coulda shoulda stuff.

Yep, he did do that. I'd forgotten that bit, but I reckon he was being pushed there. Caro and Ed were asking and probing. He did say he'd rethought the situation and that many people at Carlton had connections to him and had talked him up.
I don't think he was undermining Teague as such. He also said that Clarkson would be and should be Carlton's No.1 choice.
Couldve avoided the whole shitshow by just talking in general terms about coaching again, and Clarko’s appeal to any new club, whilst not referencing Carlton. He didn’t.
specifically said it’s a crack field for blues job, and that Clarkson should be top of the list, and that past players and champions involved with the club (pavlich) have reached out and given him a glowing endorsement. So the
“chemistry feels right”

Also alluded to the fact that all the noise is that Teague will go, and that Caro has been “right all the way” with other similar situations.

was a change in tack from him, as soon as he had skin in the game

You've clearly embellished Lloyd's contribution.

Not correct as I understand it. The EGM will take place at the AGM.
The petition was not lodged.
Galbally has already confirmed the petition is not adequate to trigger an EGM.
There is no EGM.
The current Supreme Court action is all about access to the Collingwood Members registry to enable Browne to directly contact Collingwood members prior to the AGM.
Justice Peter Riordan (Supreme Court yesterday) advised parties to seek mediation prior to next hearing on 13 September.
There are issues re the Corporations Act (section 177), covering confidentiality & direct contact with persons on the list.
The request for the Members list was originally made to check members information to validate the petition list, however the list would now be used to directly contact Members as a campaign prior to the AGM.
The Justice appears to be reluctant to rule on this.
The AGM has been brought forward to December this year.
3 Directors positions up for re-election.
Although Browne will most likely attempt to spill the board at the AGM with a motion.
The AGM will be fiery occasion.

Not sure if anyone watch the press conference with Clarkson and Hardwick today but right at the end they were both asked about Craig McRae and both spoke glowingly about both him and Kingsley. Also spoke about needing to have the right set up around them and also that patience was needed. Clarko pointed out that both he and Dimma faced the sack early on in their tenures and that they didn’t have success until they had been in their respective jobs for awhile. Clarko did mention Teague’s situation through this part of the answer too essentially saying that Carlton was being too hasty and impatient. The fu video is up on afl.com.au if you want to have a listen for yourself.
