Re: Lucas or Jetta?

But of course. One highlights video from one game must be more informative than countless scouts and people who watch him on a regular basis.
Thank you for sharing your endless fountain of wisdom.

And who are these countless scouts? I've seen a bit more of him than a couple of youtube vids and would agree his kicking is a weakness, regardless you dont need to have watched 10 of his games to see there is a flaw in his kicking when under pressure.

Averages 0.09 posts per day. Suspiciously low.
Could be a troll alias, but it would be hypocritical of me to make the accusation without evidence. :D
"in the wings" member boys sorry to disappoint you both and dislike Fremantle only slightly less than I dislike Collingwood. So sorry you'll just have to stay with logic and evidence to refute people you disagree with.

incredible hypocrisy by beatlesmith considering some of the things he has said about some of the potential draftees

Oh how melodramatic.
I made one comment that Rohan's kicking looked poor at top speed, based on viewings of the TAC and now you're following me around having a whinge?
Piss off back to your own board and give Gary Rohan a wristy.

Aaron Black is a West Coast fan!!!*

*Says he doesnt mind playing for others...

It seems most WA boys are eagles fans.

On that note has any draftee, this year or previous, come out and said they are a dockers supporter?? I cant think of any off the top of my head (I suppose its not something you really want to advertise). I thought Palmer was but someone told me he was an eagles fan.

Pity we don't have both!

Fremantle beat us to Hill and I though Palmer was unlucky we had to choose between him and Masten.

Both would have been great but we had to choose one.

Well if they ever want to come play for us I would not be opposed to the idea:D!

Yeah but Lucas out runs his direct in endurance and speed, he gets into the right position to link up and create more space, he is very athletic but has great football brain, he also uses the ball very well and knows his limitations, he does not sell people into trouble and does not find himself in trouble, he can go in and extract the ball when he sees the chance to do so.

Either way i dont think his kicking is par with Scully and a little behind the likes of Trengove and Duncan. He is allot better kick than Morabito, his left and right foot are just as good as each and has has massive upside, super strong running power, good leap and for a skinny guy he takes an excellent contested mark.

He is a genuine midfielder folks, while he might not go into every contest he stays clear, demands the ball and uses it very well and he's not some outside wingman who sprays the balls, he can break the lines but he does that when he can rather than as a norm.

Tell me why Martin, Morabito and Trengove are all better picks than Lucas? Becuase the difference is not all that large.

Is it fair to say that Lucas is predominantly outside?

Looks quite lightly-built. If we pick him, I hope he becomes more Scott Pendlebury than Matt Rosa.

Plays his best footy in the centre, East Freo colts always chucked him in the middle when he was in trouble and he usually delivered.

He doesn't play like Matt Rosa, Gunnar more like a Chapman from Geelong.

Though they have very different body shapes.

Re: Lucas or Jetta?

When your tutored by the great man Pe. Matera and he says he can make you the best winger in WA then the clubs should sit up and listen...

Jetta for mine (and he did way more than 1 state game to prove his worth)

Re: Lucas or Jetta?

I'll assume it's because he can score goals and push into the midfield off the HFF.
That's why I made the comparison a few pages back. Good overhead mark as well. But where Chapman is (to quote someone else) "strong and powerful", Lucas is quick and agile. What about Deledio (add some bulk) for a better comparison?

Re: Lucas or Jetta?

I thinnk you have to take into account the tactics of junior footy - your best midfielders play on the ball and you best bigs play FF. From what I've seen of his vids, Lucas has good clearance ability, but what really stands out is his marking ability and overall ability to move. Good agility and running ability, a natural mover who has good technique and vision. I fhe can add another 10 kgs and an inch or two would be a pretty good wing/HFF/rover. Honestly, has a lot going for him as far as raw materials and work ethic go. You won't find ant weaknesses to his game, and as he physically matures will add much more to an already pretty good repetoire.

There was a couple of instances in the footage of him where the ball would be in dispute being handballed back and forth between 4-5 opp players with guys fumbling, not picking it up cleanly, tackles everywhere etc... and in comes Lucas with a clean pick up and a good handball to the right target and the ball would be away back in WA's control and moving toward goal.

The instances im talking about wernt in tight traffic but made me sit up and go gee this bloke isnt just a runner and seems to have a good inside game.

Yes it was only highlights...
