And now we all understand why you're so excited about it...8th position is where we finished in 2024.
Even more excited about 2025, especially now the Pies have signed Membrey. And now we all understand why you're so excited about it...
Of course you are, it's October 2024.Even more excited about 2025..
A brief interlude. It's 2024 mate, you missed all the threads beforehand bad luck.
The first thing you've got right all season.Of course you are, it's October 2024.
It's 2024 and Pies just signed Membrey, reality will hit soon. But wait, it gets better.....
Collingwood's median ladder position since 2001 is.....
6th.
So Collingwood's median ladder position is only one spot lower than Carlton's HIGHEST ladder position in the same timeframe.
OMFG.

This is not an issue - list management team would have been planning for this for years. No less than 17 players coming out of contract lol, and they reckon WE'VE got problems

Carlton's Contract Conundrum
Carlton can almost field a team of players whose contracts expire in 2025, how will they manage this dilemma?www.zerohanger.com
That should fill everyone with confidence then, given the fire sale of "best 23" players we've just seenThis is not an issue - list management team would have been planning for this for years.
We have very different definitions of "fire sale"That should fill everyone with confidence then, given the fire sale of "best 23" players we've just seen
No wonder they had no chance of bringing in Houston, or any other half decent players who will improve their list....No less than 17 players coming out of contract lol, and they reckon WE'VE got problems

Indeed. We have very different definitions of "fire sale"
Lol we had every chance to bring in Houston and chose not to but I know you really want to believe his first choice was the PiesNo wonder they had no chance of bringing in Houston, or any other half decent players who will improve their team....
Yep, you continue to believe that.Lol we had every chance to bring in Houston and chose not to but I know you really want to believe his first choice was the Pies
You can literally ask that question every year because every year there will be one or more A graders moving clubs. It is not sustainable to just bring in these players whenever they are available. It's all about a balanced approach to list managementYep, you continue to believe that.
'Why would we want a 2 x All-Australian who would make our team much better and his first choice was our club?'
And a 'balanced approach to list management' would be to ensure you are positioned to bring in a player of Houston's calibre if he lands on your doorstep, because that doesn't happen every year. You can literally ask that question every year because every year there will be one or more A graders moving clubs. So your argument is Carlton are top heavy and the solution is to become more top heavy by bringing in another high salary player that isn't even a need? I'm glad you aren't on our LM teamAnd a 'balanced approach to list management' would be to ensure you are positioned to bring in a player of Houston's calibre if he lands on your doorstep, because that doesn't happen every year.
I said 3 years ago that Carlton's list was far too top heavy, and they'll find themselves in this position.
And guess what?
A dual All-Australian elite ball user in his prime is not a need at Carlton....So your argument is Carlton are top heavy and the solution is to become more too heavy by bringing in another high salary player that isn't even a need? I'm glad you aren't on our LM team
A HB is not a pressing need. There will be another AA moving clubs next year and the year after and so on. It's simply not an argument. Carlton have done a lot of recruiting from other clubs in recent years and are now hitting the draft in supposedly the best draft in years = balanceA dual All-Australian elite ball user in his prime is not a need at Carlton....
But how often to Carlton have the opportunity to pick up these 'dual All-Australians that move clubs each year'?A HB is not a pressing need. Again I know you want to believe that but Carlton had the ability to get the Houston deal done and chose not to. Club has been talking about hitting the draft for ages and Voss would not be speaking to players we couldn't bring in if we wanted to.But how often to Carlton have the opportunity to pick up these 'dual All-Australians that move clubs each year'?
Carlton are hitting the draft because they have no alternate option.
That's correct. Finally got something correct. Good for you!A dual All-Australian elite ball user in his prime is not a need at Carlton....
