I helped provide context of what a top 4 H&A finish actually leads to. Finish top 4, and you play in a QF in week 1 of finals.

Carlton haven't had a top 4 H&A finish in the 21st century, an ACTIVE 24 year streak entering 2025.

2024 Collingwood couldn't beat Essendon, cost them a finals birth, Carlton played in a Prelim in 2023 you know where the top 4 play to see who makes the GF and back it up with finals again in2024. Wonder how the Pies went in 2024?

If your definition of "best" is who finished higher on the ladder...the answer is no.

But if you have a different way of determining of who the best teams are, that includes HTH results, you may be getting somewhere.

Struggling again mate, that's what finals are for the last 4 teams are the best 4 teams at that point, no meaningless games in finals.

So now you have moved away from top 4 completely and trying to run with "last 4 teams" at that point.

The last 4 teams are - winners of the QFs (two top 4 teams) V Winners of SF (not necessarily top 4 teams).
