As a summary to those that haven't seen the Pendlebury thread, Carlton_99 rates Pendlebury ahead of Martin.

In the same way that many informed critical thinkers do.
Martin has a Brownlow and three premierships and 3 Norm Smiths, not a bad record.

Hewett slightly ahead of Lipinski. Both C Graders.

Hewett gets more midfield time and therefore gets slightly more of the ball, whilst Lipinski spends more time forward of centre and hits the scoreboard more.

Both good, honest role players.

2017: Hewett finishes 5th in Sydney B&F.

2018: Hewett finished 7th in Sydney B&F.

2019: Hewett finished second in Sydney best and fairest.

2022: Hewett finished 5th in Carlton’s from just 15 games (he goes top-2 and maybe wins with a full season).

2024: Hewett finished 5th in Carlton’s B&F.

Lipinski has 1 x top-10 B&F finish in his career. 7th in 2024.

In last 3 seasons Hewett averages 1.20 coaches votes per game to 0.56.

Of course we all favour our own players in comparisons, but there’s a very very clear gap in the quality of Hewett and Lipinski based on any objective analysis.

I’d rate Hewett as a B-grader, in and around the quality of Willem Drew, Worpel types.

I’d rate Lipinski as a C-grader, in and around Jack Graham, Parfitt, Zak Jones levels.

Great post mate, can't argue against that.

Lipinski is genuine rubbish
Premiership rubbish.

He's actually a decent player, gets a lot of hate because of his pretty boy looks.

I think he's a little slow to dispose but on paper he's a good player, a good size and his kicking is very good...when he has time.

Well, 128 years of data counts for something....

In football - outcomes arent 'data' they are 'results' - just because Collingwodo last won a GF against Carlton in 1910 and has lost to Carlton 5 times since that time- doesn't mean that Collingwood would lose to Carlton in a GF if they played against each other sometime in the future. Nor does it mean that Collingwood have a 1/6 % chance of winning - as your monkey abacus nuffery would suggest.

That is what 128 years of results actually mean as far as the future goes - nothing.

In his last three seasons, Lipinski has actually finished 6th in the 2022 Copeland (the Richmond poster overlooked that), played in a premiership in 2023, and finished 7th in the 2024 Copeland.

Still think he's a C-Grader, but improving with each year he's at the Pies (and 2.5 years younger than Hewett), after being a fringe player as a youngster in a strong Bulldogs midfield.

It's a line ball about who I'd prefer to go into 2025 with - and comes down to a team's needs.

Shockingly, I think I agree with Cyclops here. I really like him and rate him as a player.

Did you just say 'Carlton' and 'Grand Final' in the same sentence?

Did you just throw what you said previously into the bin ? Is this the fastest back peddle you've ever made?
So many questions ....

blah blah blah

PS wanna bet or are you still chicken?

No, I didn't.

Collingwood's record re: finals appearances has been consistent over it's 128 year history.

Carlton's record re: finals appearances is very different pre 21st Century and post 21st Century.
Still 16 each and if you want to start from the beginning Carlton 22 - Pies 17.

Yes you did...Let me repeat ...

Collingwood don't have a 1/6 chance of beating Carlton in a GF - which your logic would argue is the case.

OR

Should I just do a you and say:

well based on 'data' and 'historical facts' - Collingwood only have at best a 1/6 chance of beating Carlton in a GF?

Either way you look like a goose when you say this rubbish...

We have discussed this already - not every premiership team have 22 or 23 great players. There are schmuks littered within those teams. LIpinski falls into that category
A 'schmuk' who has two x top 7 finishes in his club's best and fairest in the past 3 seasons, with a premiership medallion in the other of the three seasons.

Not a bad 'schmuk' to have on one's list...

More than happy for Collingwood to have a 1 in 6 chance of beating Carlton in a Grand Final, when Carlton have less than a 1% chance of making a Grand Final in the first place...
It doesn't matter if you are happy or not - the whole notion that results of the past have any bearing what so ever on resiults in the future is a total nonsense - your abacus logic is in the same category as flat earthers and anti-vaccers when it comes to integrity.

Love how as always, Fadge has completely dodged responding to this.

Lipinski C grader, Hewett B. Pretty clear to see the difference here.

Blind Freddy could have finished top 10 collingwoods best and fairest in 2024. There was Nick , and then anyone who played more than 15 games after that. No great accomplishment mind you. Top 7 ? Whoopdeeffindooo !!!
