We are talking backline players, AA Doc and Saad, but I guess Schultz was going to be the answer as a small forward
Imagining again.
Schultz not a bad 3rd small option behind Elliott and Hill. All superior to Carlton's best small, whoever that might be.

If Elijah Hollands counts as a small forward he's pretty clearly better than Schultz

Just another case of pie supporters over rating their own players.
Schultz won a Coaches Award accompanied by a $5 trophy, bobby still waiting for that elusive solitary brownlow vote. Elliot I rate but injuries are becoming normal for him.
So it's only about goals?
I'm sure Bobby is happy with his Norm Smith Medal, Premiership medal, and equally good performance in a Qualifying Final.
I understand Carlton supporters aren't familiar with Qualifying Finals and Grand Finals...

Fudger we had a competition in here of whos a better player in 2024 Schultz or Elijah and even the Pies nuffs conceded Elijah was clearly more impactful...

Huge loss, not sure he will be replaced as easily as some are claiming. Probably one of our most consistent players, Saad is getting on and Doc's missed a lot of football.

Poor old fudgy is sticking to his guns with that token trophy for Schultz. Coaches Award are generally given to the fattys as an encouragement award , hinting to recepients you're not quite there, but keep trying anyway.
Probably came with a $10 maccas voucher as well......

whoever said that is pretty obviously wrong. but carlton supporters trying to say 'she'll be right' and raising docherty and saad arent much better.
newman finished second in carltons b&f in both 23 and 24. no matter which way you try cut it, its a significant loss. id be hoping for improvement from cowan to cover it rather than any of docherty / saad / williams who all have their best footy well behind them.

Rye I don't think many if any Carlton supporters are actually downplaying the importance of Newman and the hole he'll leave in our team. And tbh I think you're absolutely right about Docherty and Saad not being the answer down back in his absence. Boyd, Cowan and Hollands will have to step up to fill the void imo.
The context to the bickering in here is to do with Fadge consistently downplaying Newman as a player. Then he turns around and implies that we're cooked without him the second he goes down injured. You just have to laugh at the swings and roundabouts.
But if you don't believe me, these are the players that Fudge ranked above Newman - McStay, Schultz, McReery, Quaynor, Murphy, Lipinski and even Mason f*****g Cox lmao.
Stevie Wonder would provide better assessments on players.
