Obviously, I would love and Essendon player to win the Brownlow soon, but I just can't see anyone on our list at the moment going close. Some of our younger players might step up this year and provide something for me to change my mind though....

Considering it's a midfielders medal, I don't think any of our current crop have much have a chance (Paddy has the ability but isn't the type to win a brownlow). The only possibilities in my mind are the virtual unknowns; Myers, Hislop & Jetta.

If Ryder is put into the midfield in the future in a Goodes-type role then bookmark him to win a brownlow

Best chance for a Essendon player to get a brownlow is Stanton in my opinion. He works really hard makes the mistake or to occasionally but he is still young and will only get better.

He is very consistent but just needs to be more damaging with his disposal he will defiantly poll well :thumbsu:

Cousins.

All he has to do is rock up next year in red and black.

He's already got one!

paddy ryder will be the face of essendon for the next decade...
fearless talented dedicated versatile athletic humble very fair...
a future leader ...

I agree with Hisplop200, As soon as stants broke onto the scene he reminded me of R Harvey, as he has progressed my opinion only gets stronger. I saw some pics of him and he looks in tip top shape atm.

Short term, Mcphee or Watson are probaly the only ones who realistically have a small chance of winning it.

I am sure we will have another before Thomas Hird, but I am looking forward to the day Hirdys lads are in the side. That will be another golden era for EFC. How old are they anyway, how long till we can nab em?
By the time the next generation of Hirds are done, we will be upto or beyond 20 premierships! :thumbsu:

sorry guys provided the right chance laycock may one day come very very close to winning one he is going to be the best thing that hit essendon in the last few years

Thanks for the laugh.

I think Houli or Stanton could win it one day.

Danny Chartres.

I think a better question would be who on our list might win a Coleman? Surely we've got more candidates there.
Some bloke.... Floyd? Goes alright in the forward line, think he's a left-footer

It's a bit hard to predict the future Brownlow vote-winners for us
I'm guessing here, but I'd say Hird had about as many votes as the rest of our list combined
Umpies tended to give him votes whenever we won, because he caught the eye, was a past winner, fair player etc
If we start winning games without him they're going to have to start opening their eyes

If Lovett can start getting more 20-25 touch games, he'll poll votes. Can be a very damaging player, I dare say he catches the eye with the spark & pace. Inconsistency is the killer

Jobe Watson in 2008!!! :D

I'm already on for $5 at 350-1

Couldn't agree more - improves his kicking a bit more and he is a definite chance, ball magnet, hard at it and I'm on board at that $351 as well... Everyone talks up Stanton, but I'd take Watson over him every day of the week.

You'd have to say Stanton is top of the list. With the famous number 5 on his back now, he's sure to get the attention of the umpires. He's fitter than ever and with the motivaion to do the number proud, I think Stants is in for a massive year. May not win the Brownlow this year but one day you'd think so.

Agree he could be in for a massive year, but don't think the 5 on his back will make umpires notice him anymore than his 24.
