Will put $1000 on Geelong to beat the Hawks next week. It will be the easiest money I'll ever make. :(

Are you being srs?

You are my favourite poster on this whole site, but suddenly you are being very pessimistic. Do you actually think Hawthorn have no chance because we have everything going for us, at the moment.

Hawks and Freo Grand Final I think, Freo are good but maybe a little inexperienced in finals, and Hawks, you just cant go past them for the premiers I reckon. :footy:

The finals series got much more interesting when Freo beat Geelong.
- it made everyone take Freo a lot more seriously
- it have Freo a week's rest and a home prelim making it quite likely they'll make the grand final
- it put Geelong on the same side of the draw as hawthorn
- if the hawks/cats game is anything like the precious 11 encounters it will be close and even though the winner gets a grand final they will most likely be knackered.
- Sydney should never be written off and can still win against Freo if they play at their best.

So hard to pick a winner here.

I think you will find he and Shakespeare are very big on the 'reverse jinx' at the moment

As supporters, we tend to focus on the negatives when deciding our own team's chance.

Therefore, always good to look at a neutral's opinion as their views tends to be rational.

Right now, you would have Hawks as favourite given their finals experience and hot form they are in. Although Geelong's record against Hawthorn is impressive, so next Friday night is a massive hurdle for both team's flag chances. Hawks slight favourites, but really 50/50. Hawks fans hearts in mouth when the prospect of a Hawks / Cats PF became reality.

Freo are in a nice place right now and should have sufficient time to prepare mentally for next week. Whilst the game is at Subi, they still need to win, and grand finals places aren't handed out like lollies (see recent history of PF's).

IMO, Swans look shot. I doubt their ability to play 4 qrts against Freo should they win tonight, however they are the Swans and they will keep fighting.

Carlton are an interesting one. Each game from here-on in they will go in massive underdogs. I do expect the Swans to win tonight, but Carlton as a team are taking their opportunity and sometimes that's enough to be competitive against the best teams. They have shown in the last 2 weeks they won't give up however from tonight onwards they begin playing the best-of-the-best teams on their home turf.

Either way, we have a number of scenarios that can play out, and the winner this year will have well and truely deserved the cup. Go into any game mentally unprepared or not doing the tough things and you're in trouble. No games should be consider a 'lock' (especially PF week) and that's reflective of what has occurred recently (2007 PF Cats vs Pies, 2009 PF Saints vs Dogs, 2012 PF Hawks vs Crows).

Still work to be done by all teams. Potential for a solid 3 weeks coming up.

Your post has a lot of words but says very little.

The same Sewell that was dropped 6 weeks back? Lake is living off of form from 5 years ago. Both are washed up. Schoenmakers is a dud.

Making a comparison between champion players that are still relevant, and washed up decent players, isn't really valid.

Good call. :thumbsu:
