Why can't Adelaide retain players?

Pick 10: Patrick Dangerfield, Phil Davis, Jake Melksham, Daniel Gorringe, Liam Sumner, Joe Daniher, Nathan Freeman, Nakia Cockatoo, Harry McKay and Jack Bowes
Pick 27: Andy Otten, Sam Wright, Callum Bartlett, Kieran Harper, Sam Kerridge, James Stewart, Sean Lemmens, Lukas Webb, Darcy Tucker and Zac Fisher
So the Crows give up a star (possibly even a league best defender) for a 20% chance at best of getting one in return?

You can't use that argument though... you blokes shot yourself in the foot when you played hardball with Gibbs last year.

Carlton were giving up a star, and you refused to give anything reasonable in return... so the football world see's it as very hypocritical that you now want the same when the shoe is on the other foot.

We’d already gotten three all Australian seasons out of Danger, Lever is leaving before with really been able to get much out of him.
You know Melbourne is assuming some risk in this as well.
What if lever never gets any better, you just assume he will, this might be the best season he ever plays.
Do you think a borderline AA is worth two first rounders, because at the moment that's what he has shown.
In a few years we might all look back at Melbourne and laugh about what the hell they were thinking, it's happened before.

And playing hardball was clearly the wrong move, the Blues held strong, did the right thing, and I suspect that a deal will be done this year much more to the Blues liking.

It’s not hypocritical to try and get the best deal possible for your side, it’s just what every team does. Was the way we handled the Gibbs situation in the media poor? Obviously. But considering no deal was done what we offered for Gibbs is completely irrelevant to what the Dees offer us.

So if we asked Melbourne for 4 first round picks for lever and you said no, that would be 'shooting yourselves in the foot'.

We made the right decision. The price was wrong...way wrong.

Yes, but Lever has had three years in an AFL system, and a relatively strong one at that and has improved each year to the point where he is on the cusp of being an out and out star. Barring injuries, or some complete change in attitude, if he doesn’t become a star it would be the Dees fault. Yes there is a risk involved for the Dees but it is astronomically smaller for them than it is for us going to the draft.

The vics I know love their 'Dare' or whatever it is. Doesn't come close to FU!

Honestly FUIC is so insanely overrated it isn't funny and for the first 20 years of my life I thought I just didn't like Iced Coffee. Then I had Dare and my opinion changed. We wouldn't ride FUIC's dick so hard if it was made in WA, lol.

I don't get the fascination with FUIC. It's weak and watery. Dare is okay, so too is Ice Break but Big M Iced Coffee as seen predominantly in Vic is junk. I like Classic Iced Coffee and Barista Brothers' Double Shot the best.

Every club is feasting on the Adelaide Crows right now, fair dinkum unbelievable what is going down there.

Crows look/feel a little like WC do.

Dominate club's in a 1 horse/1 donkey town and are a bit stale after sustaining a pretty good run at being competitive. Both have lost that all encompassing hard bitten drive for success.

Re Crows, who was the genius that came up with the GC holiday idea in the middle of finals and meditations sessions (WTF - need more of getting down the local pub and biffing it out with Port players).

Both are boys clubs, that want good clean citizens (particularly after the eagles party boy culture of the early 2000's) and spend a fair portion of their time jumping at shadows (i.e. concerned with ensuring Freo/Port stay in their rightful place).

Both need a good clean out and Adelaide need to hit rock bottom, restock and reboot with early 1st round picks after their current title tilt fades.

Personal taste. I had Dare last week going to the GF and it just tasted like water.

How are we talking about the grand finalists as needing a cleanout...especially when none of their best 22 players are retiring in the next 2-3 years.

Also losing Lever and possibly Cameron for mainly draft picks would be a small cleanout wouldnt it?
