Universal Love Why Kirby must play AFL seniors!

Call me simple minded, but if he gets a taste of senior footy this year, even a small taste, then he has that platform, that direct experience and that motivation driving him to work his ring off over the off season.

If he doesn't get a taste, I reckon it's much more likely that he'll get away over the off season, drink a thousand pots, enjoy the good life a bit too much, come back a bit rusty and it's back to square one.

Get. Him. In.

I would play him now. We are definitely going to get a bit exploited by his lack of fitness, but he can do what others can't....kick goals. if he can snag 2 or 3, he immediately becomes more valuable than someone like Tim Broomhead who is only getting about 12 possessions a game, a goal, and not a heck of a lot defensively.

The difference between 16th and a top 4 spot for us this year has been . . . . .
wait for it . . . . . . . .!
Goalkickers . . . . . . . .
and the ability to hit opposition backmen hard when they have the pill - both of which the kirbinator excels at.
Play him for 10 minutes a quarter if necessary.
Sure if we get an early injury we are screwed on the bench
BUT
We are out of the race now so time to start building.

Get him in and give him a taste - if he has any stones at all that should motivate him for next season and the intervening off season.

I'm all for him to play.
Certainly looks to be tracking in the right direction.

Care! If he plays and his level of fitness etc is not what's required we don't want him looking totally out of his depth.

We want him capable of handling it, if so, get him going...

Maybe this isn't the week, but Kirby (and Daicos and maybe McLarty) need to play at least one game before the year is out. If there's one thing a game of AFL footy could teach them, it's how far they need to go to become AFL footballers. Let them learn the lesson and take it into another pre-season.

If he debuts
How many games does he play before we can start potting him not being up to it?

How many games is allowed before the word spud is allowed?

(I don't think of him that way; just wanted to know the protocols for bigfooty)

Well there were a bunch of short sighted posters calling for him to be delisted before the season had even started. So straight away probably. It'll be the same posters trying to save face.

Leading the VFL goal scoring. Leading.

How is this not a selection lay-up?
Most likely he doesn't have the tank at that at level.
Imagine yesterday at that tempo and he can't keep up?
Might have been like Callum in his two games, ok but nothing full on.
Of course being a gem in natural talent he could have done a magical thing or two.
But more likely he'd struggle at that tempo.

It is a different level.
I'm more get him right build the tank
Let him loose when ready.

Patience grasshopper

I agree, reward the kid for his effort, he needs to know what is needed to get to AFL standard and intencity, he kicked three and had 6 tackles inside 50, a goal kicking forward who can heap on the pressure.....no brainer for me.

If it were me I would be getting frustrated with the lack of exposure. I think we will see him against North, especially with Daicos looking very doubtful with the foot injury.
