This is what I don’t get about Greens. They blindly follow whatever other Greens say. Who often have their own agenda.

This is what I don’t get about Christians. They blindly follow whatever other Christians say. Who often have their own agenda.

There's no evidence (yet) that this event was premeditated or motivated by any belief. There's a lot of reporting that doesn't pass the scratch'n'sniff test. I'd suggest to not make bold claims for at least a few months or even before an inquest because most of what is in print is likely to follow a particular bias or narrative. More likely a bunch of meth heads with a screw loose and firearms... but we'll have to wait and see.
The point is that a core tenet of conspiracy theorists is that they are free thinkers, everybody else are sheep who blindly follow what they are told (by MSM, Big Government, etc, etc). This is not a core tenet of the Greens or Christians. But conspiracy theorists blindly follow conspiracies like sheep, usually in spite of strong objective evidence to the contrary of those theories.

Yes the weird thing is conspiracy thinking is founded upon an inherent distrust of authority and independent thinking yet they'll also lap up anything that even remotely agrees with their nutty conspiracy theories.

You even see it in this case already. Conspiracy nutjobs trying to cast doubt on the authenticity of the story, calling it another false flag attack to further restrict guns etc.

Perhaps the grossest comments I've seen come from a Bernie Finn post. Finn for once actually does something nice and expresses his condolences and some of his cooker followers are celebrating it as justified after "what police have done to us." If I were ASIO I'd be keeping a close eye on those ones cause it sounds like more people than we'd be comfortable with would consider doing this shit

I disagree. Conspiracy theorists are very black and white. Everything the government puts out is manipulation, manufactured, fake.

I see lots more variety in other groups. I have friends who are left wing who definitely don’t all agree, same with Christian friends, same with gym friends, same with supporters of the same footy team.

That’s not to say that any group is immune from echo chambers but from what I’ve seen of conspiracy theorists that’s all it is. A big echo chamber.

interesting insight, the latest conspiracy views being spewed out about this tragedy - Dave Oneegs fb
I can't see what Oneegs posts anymore. I think he chucked a sad and blocked me for calling out his lies once. Free speech warrior my ass

Interesting though that Gareth Train called out Oneegs specifically for not going far enough which is pretty scary. Oneegs is cooked so to say he's not cooked enough shows how insane these blokes were

Train apparently was engaging with Dave Oneegs on Telegram. I was just watching one of his maniacal rants and thinking he should have been flagged but there's hundreds just like him out there.

I thought they 'did their own research'.

Also is there any evidence of Nathaniel's links with Mark Latham beyond the Walgett NAPLAN stuff?

Latham has previously gone in hard on the hardline conservative stuff over the Safe Schools program, trans students in schools etc. which are also big in conspiracy circles. If he's gone to Latham to complain about the NAPLAN stuff makes me wonder if he's a broader Latham fan. Can see how the son of a Christian minister could start down that road through Latham's school stuff and go deeper down the rabbit hole when he left his job and got in with his even nuttier brother

You can't go after Latham for answering an email of a concerned teacher.

Despite what has transpired down the track.

If anything, what has been reported reflects well on Latham imo, in that he was willing to go to a country school to follow up on the concerns of a community member.

You don't want to deter politicians from doing this, as it's not done enough.

I don't want to go after him over the NAPLAN stuff. The stuff that has been reported has been legitimate.

What I'm asking is whether Nathaniel Train was contacting Latham over other stuff that Latham usually rails against or whether it was just legitimate NAPLAN cheating concerns. Like if Train had ever railed against the Safe Schools program or other education topics that Latham likes to rail against or had formally raised those concerns with either the DoE or Latham himself

I know it’s been touched on in this thread a bit. However, given what I’ve read about the area and some insight into it also via this thread - my question is, should there have been a bit more vigilance in terms of investigating what was actually occurring at the property? Like specialised cops attending first etc? (yeah I get the welfare check/no idea of what they were capable of etc). This is not like suburban Brisbane, Melbourne etc. Surely there would have been some intel around the area and the potential of complete cookers around as evidently shown.

Here's some more info on Gareth and Stacey.
But no pics of either of them appear to have emerged in public yet.
Until not long ago today from a 2011 picture in the South Burnett Times!

'Ambush teacher Stacey Train quit job a day before vax deadline'

'quit the local school because she refused to take the mandatory Covid vaccination.'

'Mother-of-two Stacey Train'

'She had been working at Tara Shire State College for several years after stints in regional towns around the state.
Sources said have confirmed that she quit the college on December 16, last year – a day before the December 17 deadline for all staff to have had their first dose. “She chose to resign rather than have a vaccination,” the source said.'

'A police source said the woman – who The Australian revealed on Tuesday had been previously married to Nathaniel before divorcing him, and marrying Gareth – was an active shooter in the incident.

The source told The Australian that all three Trains “shot the s..t out of the bearcat” police armoured vehicle that led the counter-attack on the property.
“There was a thought that Stacey may have been an unwilling participant but she was shooting at police with the best of them,’’ a source said.
“She got shot and went down and was still shooting at police as she was laying on the ground.
“She was then shot and killed.
“She was just as mad as them.”'

'Stacey Train started her teaching career at the Charters Towers State High School in February 2004, when she told a local newspaper she wanted to work in a regional area with a community feel and smaller class sizes.'

a) sadly not surprising

b) first I've heard mention of kids, hope they are safe and supported

c) this just gets weirder and weirder.

Such a tragic event with the murders of 2 police and an innocent civilian.

A shame the perpetrators won’t get their day in court and for psychologists to understand their motive, their struggles and insecurities.

It sounds like they were conspiracy theorists under the influence of an illegal substance/s with underlying mental health issues. A chain of events.

Horrific. Just glad that with all the links to teaching / school / education that this wasn’t at a school and that no children were hurt in the shootout.

A more recent pic of Stacey Train in the Daily Mail this afternoon.

I read it first in the Daily Mail earlier today, and then again in the below

The 2 children (reported to be of Gareth and Stacey) are assumed to be of adult age now.

'EXCLUSIVE: Female cop killer is unmasked as anti-vaxxer school principal: Teacher in a 'love triangle' with her husband and his 'missing' brother murdered two officers and an innocent neighbour'

'Before the murderous trio moved to Wieambilla, the three of them owned a four-bedroom home together in Millstream, about 150km south-west of Cairns in far North Queensland, which they sold in 2009.

A neighbour from their Millstream days told Daily Mail Australia paints a very different picture from the Trains' reputation at school, describing them as 'paranoid' and aggressive' people, who didn't want any attention.

The property, owned by Gareth, who spoke of prepping his home for an apocalypse, and his wife Stacey was well off the grid, had extensive solar panels and water tanks.

'They just weren't nice people and showed the potential for just this sort of thing even way back then,' he said.

'They had barbed wire and gates and fences around the property too - that’s normal on rural properties like these, but they had surveillance cameras and spotlights and things like that which was a bit out of the ordinary back then.'

He said Stacey and Gareth lived on the property full time, and Nathaniel would stay there on the weekends.

’They had children who would be in the 20s now - they obviously don’t live with their parents any more though,' the former neighbour added.'

You'd probably be hard pressed to find people living on acreage who weren't registered gun owners!
I'd red flag anyone that lived on a large acreage in the middle of nowhere like that that wasn't a registered gun owner, and urgently investigate if they had any illegal guns, weapons or were manufacturing or warehousing or distributing illegal drugs.

The 4 cops attending the property is probably not that unusual, especially if they knew the occupants were registered gun owners (if they were).

4 cops at a standard welfare callout, must have been a very very slow day in an over resourced area.

From what I've read I can't ascertain that the police officers were in the right to enter the property for a standard welfare check but I may be wrong. There has to be more that is not being let out. If not, a simple statement from the owner/occupiers stating the officers to vacate would have sufficed in Qld.

Not sure why the neighbour went to check on the commotion of the gunshots and then fires, he would have heard them and made no call (that is known) to authorities. Perhaps he had no phone? As they say curiosity killed the cat.

The Irony of this is a bloke or 2 hell bent on believing that the port arthur massacre was a false flag to remove guns from the populace ends up doing just that same thing.

Was very little mention of perpetrator 3 in the gunfight that ensued with the police, interesting to know what happened to that one.

Unfortunately it points to a couple of whackjobs with no sane reasoning or something far more sinister to hide, bit Ned Kellyish.
