I thought Will was great tonight. WE started to dominate around the stoppages in the third and Will was a big reason. He got the plenty of the ball and made his presence felt. Massively important to us in allowing Darcy forward.

Griffen was great and Brad Murphy was very good. Morris did OK.

I thought Conney was out of sorts......trying to hard to breaklines every time he get the pill.....

Great game and a great win.

Kept Mcloud to 8 possesions or something like that and only OK?

Didn't have Andrew McLeod for the entire game. But he did good, he'd be proud of his first game. I was. Sorry if you thought I under sold him.......

He was good in open play as well. Breaking tackles and using the ball well. He was up for every contest. Full of effort as well, he always puts in 100%.

I havent seen the game just going off the radio commentary but they (MMM) made it sound like he was on Mcloud for the whole game and did a superb job

Fair enough....McLeod spent time on Johnson at Full Back......

Morris will retain his spot no doubt!

will was very ********ing good

Minson always keeps his focus and i've noticed he selectively uses his aggression when it suits him or he needs to contest. Around the clearances he provides excellent ruck service and his bfollow up ruck work/blocking space is another handy feature to his game. Around the ground he does a sound job and disposal by foot is good. Cleaned up Hudson a few times and collared 1 Crows player who immediately bailed, overall a very pleasing game tonight from Big Will.

He actually had opposition players not wanting to tackle him or being vary aware of him. Good presence after only a handful of games.

Maybe a rising star nomination this week.

I don't want to take this thread completely away from where it started but I see Rocket also said Morris had McLeod and he is the final authority on the matter. With the rotations these days it is hard to know who has got who. Most of the game Morris was in the backline sometimes standing next to MCLeod, but Morris also went in to the centre bounce at least once and in the last quarter when Mc Leod was sulking on the half back line they only went near each other when McLeod went chasing easy kicks in the forward line.
The only sense I can make of this is that when McLeod played certain key roles then Morris picked him up and stitched him up, but at other times he had other responsibilities. Given how damaging McLeod usually is against us he must have either been very ill last night or he got a father of a hiding from a first game player.

I'll watch a replay as soon as the AFL get last night's game up and watch how Morris and McLeod interact and post more later this lovely long weekend

The best game from big wills short career, best game by far.
Well said, only a total idiot could disagree.

Like you I hope he can go on from here but past experience says that all young players bounce around a fair bit and he will no doubt get the odd touch up as the year goes on, but he looks like he's made a spot for himself in the team long term.

Not at all bad for a draft smokey and someone who others on this board were so quick to criticise. Maybe they will rethink there continual trawling over some of our recent draft picks and suggesting that evry decision the club makes is stupid. I wish.

On another matter I have only been able to get to or watch three games this year (Collingwood, Melbourne and Adelaide) and in these our rucks seem to have adjusted very well to the new centre circles. Not only is Wills coming along beautifully but Darce is regularly palming the ball to our runners, something that I would not have regarded as his greatest strength in the past, given his other outstanding qualities. He seems to be better able to outmanoeuvre his opponents when he can get body contact with them slightly before the ball arrives, I guess this is why he often used to jump early under the old arrangements.

I wonder how our rucks have been going in the other games

Sorry to talk about McLeod but it didn't seem like he was really that interested last night
It looked like he jibbed it a little on centre wing when Minson attacked the ball and he stood off.

Once again from MMM, they said that Jarman (i think) had a go at McLeod a few weeks ago for softing out of a contest straight after that incident.

It was very un Mcleod like but he was facing Minson. Its great too know we have a young player that can intimidate the likes of McLeod just by his size and attack of the footy.

He didn't get too much room to move, last night. He's now being tagged and given a lot of attention. It'll take him a while to get used to that. It took McGuinness a season. He solved the tagging problem by getting fitter and faster. Cooney is even better, he'll work it out pretty quickly. I don't mind him trying to break lines and tackles. It doesn't always come off but its better that he has a go. His delivery is sensational, on the way to Buckleyesque standards.

morris was on the resting midfielder up forward type role, which was mostly mcleod, but was also tyson edwards for a fair amount and riccuito as well.
He was a good quiet achiever morris, very sturdy player, dependable type.

Minson the man mountain, what can i say he's arrived. He's just a real icon, and now the crowd really now it, when ever he came on and off the ground the crowd were almost on their feet. Also his radio interview after the game was pretty classy, he's not your usually football player cliche ridden dud. I think at one question asked of him (brian taylor i think?) "were you surprised about how well you played will?" he replied no, how can i be, that's a bit of a silly question really isn't it.

This man doesn't take any s#$% that's for sure,

Also when he was walking around the boundary line after just coming off he pointed to the player in possesion with the ball where a loose player was (who was on behind him). Great awareness and a great team player.
