If they are out there fining 17 year girls $1700 bucks for having a half hour driving lesson with mum, I can certainly see the idea of people ‘encouraging’ others to disregard social distancing laws via posts on social media, suddenly becoming a criminal offence.

If they had the tech on hand, I’m almost certain police would have us all chipped, so we can be tracked, and that anyone leaving there home can be intercepted and apprehended immediately.

I think my favourite was telling people in relationships that they can only have sex with eachother if they live together. If they live separately bad luck. No sex for you.

And it was the great progressive state of Victoria which gave us that gem. Not Scomo and the Hillsongites.

Plans for monitoring via mobile phones have been discussed by academics. Whether we reach that point, who knows. If we do, I'll turn off my phone and leave it at home.

Average age of Italians dying is 80. Ours is similar. Havent seen stats for the US.

It may not just be killing old people, but its killing a fu**load of old people.

And a handful of younger people who had pre-existing medical conditions.

And one or 2 younger people where its unknown why they died, at the moment, but Im sure Coroners will find out.

As Peter Singer as it sounds, like I said, is it worth losing our collective liberty and freedom, and the destruction of our entire economic and social frameworks, in order to save the lives of x percentage of the 75 and up demographic?

I don’t think so.

The regressive left at its finest

Most of whom had pre existing conditions and were going to die either this flu season or next.

As long as people are aware this is about stopping deaths, there will be no armed uprising.

Everyone has friends and family in the at risk categories they are trying to protect.

Given our rapidly aging population, I would argue letting these people die is actually beneficial to society as a whole, at least from a purely economic standpoint.

Well that's part of the reason this virus was introduced; to eliminate the elderly, who are an economic burden on society, and to have a justification for raising taxes (when the pandemic has passed).

I would respectfully suggest, that there is already a healthy groundswell of opinion within the community, that these lockdowns are about more than just stopping deaths.

This is looking more and more like an opportunistic power grab by the day.

Sooking and armed rebellion as somewhat apart

I guess only time will tell. Are any of the draconian measures currently in place going to remain once the pandemic is over? We shall see.

I don’t think we will see armed rebellion.

Our lack of easy access to firearms to plays a big part in that.

Nonetheless, our politicians and police must have been somewhat concerned....

Or could that be simply be a pre emptive measure to ensure community compliance over what they may have planned next?

Once your average sociopathic raptor 13 on the beat gets a taste for his and her new ‘powers’ (and politicians get used to the additional revenue stream) do you think they will willingly give them up?

I don’t.

People will not rebel, no matter how much the crazy new right wish for it

Your phone is always on even when it's switched off. Most modern phones you can't take the battery out. Get an old phone or I heard that setting flight mode works.

Wtf are you on about? Power grab?
If there’s no restrictions our hospitals will be overwhelmed. As more and more people need ICU many won’t be able to get the care they need and will die. That also means the younger the victims will get. Italy has lost 80 doctors so far.

How is any of that relevant to teenage girls being fined $1700 for having a driving lesson with mum, and politicians telling people who they can and can’t have sex with in their own home? How is any of that grounds for the forced closure of the law abiding businesses of firearms dealers?

I don’t.

The other big one that's gone under the radar is the forced closure of firearm dealerships in WA. Given that they can't trade for a minimum of 6 months, will gun shops ever be able to re-open or will they just shut up shop permanently? I get the feeling the gov has exploited people's willingness to surrender to the lockdown measures in the interests of public safety, by trying to increase firearm control measures indefinately.

Yep, not under my radar.

In what universe, is it suddenly acceptable for politicians and police in a democratic society, to unilaterally close down law abiding private businesses, the way the WA firearms sector was just shut down?

It’s outrageous.

It makes you despair as to exactly how much of an over reach we have to see, before some people wake up to the true nature, and potential long term ramifications, of what’s unfolding in front of them.

They're trying to disarm the populace because they fear an uprising against the draconian measures being enforced.
