Who have powaa beaten away from home? St Kilda, Richmond, Sydney. 3 average sides. They have also been offered a dream home draw to date with games against Brisbane, Bulldogs, Melbourne, and have already played west coast, north, hawthorn who are basket cases, They have no chance unless they change the grand final to Adel Oval. Geelong are missing half their side and will still likely finish top 4. Once they get their team back they will be fresh and I can't see anyone stopping them. What's happening now will be very different to what happens in 3 months.
As much as we hate them they are answering every challenge. the showdown loss is the kick up the ring they needed. they will play off in the GF this year

The next showdown will most likely be our grand final. Port will have bigger fish to fry, or hopefully be fried. If we can’t get motivated to beat them then the whole year has been a waste of time.
Luckily for us we can beat anyone at home. The biggest letdown for the year for me is that colling wood game. we smacked them that first half and SHOULD have been 6 or 7 goals up. that one still hurts

If Port go deep in finals and we finish outside the 8, I'm guessing the club will start to worry as to how much it will impact membership/crowd numbers in 2024. Averaging 38k this year - it could drop to 35k in 24.
Membership and crowds for the crows are up this year, and I expect will increase next year as well regardless of where we finish. People can see we are getting back to where we should be, not quite there yet though

They will choke like they did against Richmond and WB in the prelim. That was at home as well. If they make a prelim it will most likely be at the MCG or the Gabba. Like the crows the can't win away from home when it matters. As stated above they've beaten no one decent away. Their only away game against a contender was a 10 goal loss to collingwood. I hope powaa make the gf against Geelong and Geelong sets a new winning margin against them. That set them back 10 years last time.

Bit of denial going on here. Port are right amongst it with the top contenders. Yes they may have peaked too early but at the moment they are deserving second favourite imo. We can only hope they drop off or repeat their previous chokes

No denial, there are just at least three better premiership contending teams (Coll, Geel, Melb) and Brisbane who are a watershed MCG confidence victory away from being GF worthy

They spoke about us not travelling to Melbourne for a game since round 12 last year on 'The Bump' yesterday and Roo mentioned that the AFL do not hide that if you have been shit for a while, you will cop the shit venues and timeslots. He went on to say that he wouldn't expect us to be getting the Ballarat/Geelong/Darwin/Tasmania combo again next year. Port being able to play the Bulldogs at Marvel on a Friday night is very different to a Saturday afternoon game in Ballarat, especially for player mentality. At the very least, we should be playing Geelong and the Bulldogs in Adelaide next season and I could then cop a Darwin/Tasmania trip; I also hope we request at least 4 games in Melbourne.

I'll give you Collingwood, but Port have beaten 2 of the others and play the 3rd next week.
If it was us we'd all be talking dynasty and how we're GF certainties

'I tell you, that to every one who has will more be given; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.' - Luke 19:26

I hated us playing at these dumb venues this year, but at the same time I agree that a good team should have the 'anyone, anywhere, any time' attitude.

Win 7 out of 10 and we definitely make finals. Win 6 and that puts us on 13 and we may make it on percentage. The key games are the away game against Essendon and the showdown. I think we will probably finish on 13 wins. If we miss it will be because of the gws and pies games. We were lucky against Hawthorn so we are one less win than where we should be.

Port are being carried by Butters ATM. Without him they lose all the close wins they had. Hurts all the more as we wanted and could have drafted him

Richmond did us a favour. Just need Carlton to get up over the bombers tomoz.

9-12 have played 1 game less. Richmond have hawks, eagles and Roos to come plus % a non-issue with their draw. There seems to be a lot of sides that are in with a chance of falling into 7th to 8th. Us being one of them. Far too many combos to be worrying about it yet.

Hypothetical, its a huge IF, but if we beat the pies away are we no longer thinking about top 8 but rather top 4?
Top four would be pretty challenging. Obviously we'd make it if we won the remaining 10 games, but we've got at least four tough fixtures in away games against Collingwood, Melbourne and Brisbane plus the showdown. If we did win some of those games it's possible we get top 6 and a home final. Realistically I think 7th or 8th is where we land if we win all the games we should win and finish on 12-13 wins.

I think we need to pinch one of the away games against the Pies, Bombers, Dees or Lions to make it.
I figure we'll lay a turd at home at least once in the run home. Norf, GWS, Port, Suns, Syd.
Our decent percentage might end up being the difference.
Won't mean anything if we aren't cherry ripe for September though.

against my better judgement, I just did a ladder predictor where we finish 10th, 1 game behind Freo who miss by %. I only adjusted % for obvious smashings against eagles, Roos and hawks for the clubs in our race. Cats and Dogs finished 7th and 8th but I wonder how many of there wins are more based on the past ahead of this year's form. Going to be tight for a long way for those last 2 spots I reckon.

Eliminate the stupid avoidable mistakes and we'll make it.

it's an hour or so ago now, but I reckon I was possibly too kind to dogs and cats who are unreliable this year. Just depends upon who they were playing when I selected them. And I might have not given Freo enough purely over last night and Tigers too, who haven't been good this year, but might have turned a corner. Far too many variables when there's about 8 clubs mixing their form vying for 2 spots and all within a win or 2.

We've got no boutique venues left to go to. Hopefully a couple of the current sanfl lads can really put the pressure on from below and the selectors can couple performance based selection to that form. With everyone then on the same page we will be in the hunt.

boutique venues are basically the only away wins we've had the last 2 and a half seasons. Those plus last year's eagles away win. So that's actually a negative aspect to our remaining draw.

I have consistently predicted that we will finish in the middle six, between 7th and 12th, since the pre-season which is considerably higher than the “ AFL Experts” and “Bigfooty Experts”predicted.

Recent results suggest we are likely to finish around 10th but a lucky win or an unlucky loss could change this considerably. only the Eagles, Kangas and Hawthorn are no chance with 10/11 games to go. We have had a very healthy squad, can this continue?

It is certainly more fun than tanking for Pick One 🙄.
