Swans vs Fremantle in 2001 I think was also very ordinary. I can remember Roy and H.G bagging it on TV the following week.
That was the first match to come to mind. The skills (particularly the marking) of both teams were horrible, especially in the first half.

Never before had I seen a match in which the standard of play improved as a result of Dale Lewis coming off the bench.

Nothing compares to whatever it was Richmond served up against Adelaide this yr....they played netball coz they knew they couldnt win at footy.

Took a lot of spilt blood to earn that "eat em alive" spirit...its more like "eaten alive" spirit for the last 20 odd years...now they'll happily play netball whenever it looks all too difficult for them.

Any club can do that at anytime. Only those not ashamed to wear a skirt would try it tho. No ticker.

The only reason Richmond got away with it was simply because Adelaide refused to man up. So in a sense, it was Adelaide that refused to play football. As a result richmond could apply a strategy that got them the 4 points.

If any team could do that at any time then why doesn't it occur more often? Simply because the strategy is simple to beat by manning up.

Although not pretty to watch, you must be able to appreciate the fact that a far inferior team was able to apply a strategy, and beat a top 4 side.

Any game involving the Kangaroos this year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't there a game this year when the Roos cleared the ball from the centre, and went right back to their defensive goal square before they moved the ball forward? Very boring gameplan, that is if they did have one.

v West Coast at Manuka. No Eagle got near the ball until the handball across the goalsquare.
But there have been far worse games than that.

Any game from 2006 where Hawthorn had a scoreless quarter. What about Fitzroy's scoreless half vs. Essendon in 1995 (I think)? I didn't see it, but it for those who did it would have to be on their list.

Totally agree with these, the Richmond Carlton game this year was hands down the worst game I've ever seen. I just wanted to go home early to get away from it but said I'd wait until Richmond got another goal to at least end the game, yet they couldn't even do that.

Just such a terrible horrible game to watch
'Twas at least free-flowing, and the scores were close. As you say, a million skill errors, but I've seen many less-entertaining games.
