WWE PPV's in the US are $45. Apparently WWE get only $10 from that $45. So really WWE would be making a huge profit from the network. Think about it! WWE get around 200k for each of the 'B' PPV's but with the Network I'm positive that they'll get around 500k + subscribers!

Keep in mind that they're paying plenty of money for this network, though. They're partnering with the MLB guys to do it, which apparently doesn't come cheap.

I've been off wrestling for a while but have to admit, thats an absolutely amazing deal.

If you are a mad wrestling fan, $2.50 a week for nearly any show from any past promotion, and in probably top condition.... just wow.

except music rights, if you're picky for that

So whats the idea along the PS3/4 American Accounts, you can access them via there?

PS3/PS4 is one of the devices that they listed you could use to watch it.

As far as it being discussed in this thread.... If you have a US Playstation account (very easy to set up) then you can download the American WWE Network app from Sony and tune in early. If it's region-locked you will need to set up a VPN but that's also easy enough to do.

IF the PPVs screen live on the WWE Network and not some time delay (to ensure that people pay their cable providers as well) and they're of a good quality then the WWE Network will save us $20+ per month.

24th February for US. Australia and other countries get it late 14/early 15.

I reckon they should have organised things in advance and release it worldwide!! I would have been ok with mid 2014, but late 2014/early 2015 is a bit ridiculous!!

The more I think of it, the more I think it's an absolutely brilliant idea from WWE! Not only would they get current fans, but they'll get old wrestling fans just to watch the old PPV's in good quality, whilst in the process, the older fans will pay a bit more attention to the current product and they might like it and get hooked onto it. Vincent Kennedy McMahon, you are a ****ing genius!!

They've made a big deal about live PPVs being on it but I haven't read anything about the network being in HD. Will it be in HD?

Seems too early to vote if we'll have to wait a year for it. Unless you have a workaround which you guys make sound not hard.

Ouch. The fake music (and crowd to match) is quite annoying.

Yep, I book WWE PPV's every month (I know I'm a bit of a ****ing idiot LOL) and this will save me a lot of money!! I've been marking out all day! This feels like it's too good to be true. It's like a dream. I reckon I've had to read over the overview of everything that's included in the $9.99 subscription fee!! I mean all WWE,WCW and ECW PPV's, an entire library of territorial footage, Past Raw and smackdown shows, Original programming and all current WWE PPV's!! WOW JUST ****ING WOW!!!

How do I change my Aussie PS account to a US??
Also wouldn't I have to have a US credit card??

Likewise, I'm another sucker no matter how much I hate the programming at times I just refuse to say "enough is enough.".

This venture makes absolutely perfect sense from a WWE business standpoint. As they said, or hinted at, they've had these video libraries essentially collecting dust. There are only so many DVDs, Blu Rays, etc. that people will purchase before that market goes dry. This is the ideal avenue for the company to go down in order for them to allow the fans to have access to what the WWE wants their universe to have.

I would have said the US$9.99 was an outstanding value proposition for their fans before they made the decision to include new pay per views. I do wonder, however, if the Australian and other non-US nations (ie. non-US PS4 accounts as well) will have PPV's blacked out (region locked) whilst the WWE allows PPV contracts (i.e. with Main Event here in Australia) to complete. Yes, they've stated on their FAQ that WWE PPVs will be able to be purchased elsewhere (from your cable provider) but I wonder if Main Event holds exclusivity rights to them in Australia. It wouldn't surprise me if we had to wait until the next Main Event contract was completed (I'm not certain when that is).

Another thing that really impressed me was that they didn't half ass this project throughout the planning stages. Although their plans to have the Network on cable went awry I was very impressed that they hired the consultancy of the MLB to help them with the establishment of this set up. The big three (excluding hockey) have incredible set ups in regards to Internet streaming. I'd like to suggest that the NBA's is at the top of the class whereas I feel MLB does a tremendous job catering to the enormity that is their annual project (double the size of the season, most days having many more games than most NBA game days, etc.). It still shows foresight to not keep it "in house" which is something that in the past the WWE have done to their own detriment.

Stoked. This was better than any Christmas gift I received. I genuinely feel as though this is the WWE's way of thanking its universe while at the same time encouraging it to return the love in a new way.

Step 1. Create a NEW account through your PS3/PS4. When it asks for address information insert an American address (I'd use Oregon). You'll need to use a separate e-mail address (obviously, a simple Gmail account does the trick).
Step 2. Make it one of the active/master (whatever it is called) accounts (both accounts (US + AU accounts) can be master accounts concurrently).
Step 3. If you want to have PS+ on it then you'll have to purchase PSN cards (either monetary ones or straight PS+ for X months cards) through a store such as Amazon (again use a US address, Oregon avoids state sales taxes).
Step 4: Redeem those codes online (Playstation's online store) or on the Playstation itself (make sure your US account is logged in).

This will allow you to download the American WWE Network app on Playstation account (you'll also be able to get PS+ games from both your pre-existing Australian and new American PS+ accounts (again a lot of value in doing this).

As for needing an American credit card with the WWE who knows. However, there are ways around this such as an online purchase of a preloaded VISA card.

It's about 15-20 minutes work and you're laughing.

I also have doubts about the PPV's included in the package for us here in Australia. If there is a problem though, hopefully it's sorted before they release it here!

Also something that excites me (even though it's a small thing) is that we'll be able to watch the Attitude era without them blurring the WWF logo! :D

Is it possible that we could get the Network mid-2014?? After all they said they'll like to have it by the end of the year, doesn't necessarily mean that that's when they'll release it. I'm sure they'll like to release it as quick as possible!

Wonder if Fox8 will bother airing Raw live by early 2015... Wouldn't be much fun watching a pre-show and post-show without proper access to the real show.

Hopefully with the announcement of the WWE network, FOX8 will wake up and finally show RAW live! If not then they should move it to Fox Sports. Though I doubt FOX 8 will show Raw live so maybe they'll have the Raw-pre show on the WWE network (Australian version) just before RAW airs in Australia on Wednesday??

Digital Distribution isn't the future, it's the present. It's good that WWE are progressive enough to be aware of it.

I reckon if you did a poll of people that (with adequate download limits) that download shows/movies etc, if you had a reasonably decent monthly subscription service, people would pay it.

Going slightly off topic here, but IMO cable as it is now will eventually shrink and be such a small part of the visual entertainment industry. As more organizations like WWE/NBA control their own content through their own service, there will hardly be a need for it.

That being said, will be interesting to see how the Australian internet infrastructure copes with digital distribution in about 10 years time.

We're struggling already with it, 720p streams use 144mb over an hour. Watch basketball once a day every day at the moment and I use 4.3gb. So imagine streaming movies etc.

Jesus, I wouldn't be that fawning! DVD/Bluray sales in the US have been declining for years. Every media company's getting on streaming.

Unlike the four major sports in the US, it's not going to cost upwards of $200 to get access to it for the six or so month season.

This is entirely why I wanted Abbott to lose this time and for them to get in four years later. I believe that the biggest issue - economically speaking - from the past election was the NBN. We had a number of global giants who were willing to expand massively in Australia under the old NBN. Now that it's being cut back to a fraction of what it was and the costings are even higher than what they originally were going to be they've dropped off. For a nation so reliant on service industries, many of which extend to digital formats, we're going to be held back. How far? At this stage I don't believe even those in charge have any idea.
