I've been waiting for Perfect Dark and Fable for so long now lol. There's a few OG Xbox games I'd love to see remade but that seems unlikely.

I keep forgetting about Fable. It feels like there hasn't been any meaningful news on it in ages. Hopefully at the games showcase next month then.

It's been a train wreck for 6 or 7 years now. There's no real direction. The Series X console has some serious power, but in the 2.5 years it's been out there is only one single exclusive game available that takes advantage of the hardware - Microsoft Flight Sim.Xbox is a train wreck right now. They really dropped the ball, and frankly I feel stupid for not going with a PS5. That said, I've had every Xbox, and the backwards compatibility is nice.
I do wish it had more games, the Playstation has a ton of exclusives that look fantastic.

I did a search for news just before after posting that and I found an article in Feb saying the game is in a playable state. Surely that means something official and substantial should be soon.

He basically said that they'll never catch up to Sony or Nintendo since they made crap games in their first gen so there is no nostalgia pull. The more worrying thing is that he thinks that just making great games won't solve it.
Maybe it is because they just tried to make a good new IP in Redfall and completely shit the bed. He didn't have much time to put his business face on.
Talk about hyperbole reactions...
They will never catch up with Sony and it's ok to acknowledge that, MS gaming division is more than just a plastic box that sits under the TV. They had to pivot direction because of brand loyalty sony has and the pivot is gamepass and services like their business model is software and services. MS definitely hasn't been smooth with it's delivery and content but their broad picture is to get more people to access games at lower entry cost. There are countries where the playstation and xbox are out of reach financially for majority of the population. They enable those people to play via web browser and xcloud to try and gain market and mind share that way.

The 360 era was peak Xbox, they had an opportunity then to really go for it in 2013 but absolutely stuffed up the Xbox one and had to backtrack on everything they had planned. Sony dominated with PS4 and haven’t looked back since.

They competed pretty well with Sony with the 360… Their problem is that they don’t evolve. They never moved past the type of games that dominated the Xbox original and 360.
Even Sony knew they could never compete with Xbox head on (their shooter alternatives were shit), so what did they do? They evolved, began putting out high quality cinematic titles that pushed the envelope, they started doing this in the second half of the PS3s life and into the PS4.
Xbox on the other hand actually reduced their output towards the end of the 360s life. They still haven’t recovered from the gutting of their studios then.

People say this, but he's literally the reason why Microsoft didn't can the Xbox brand altogether. Phil has them sold on the pivot from Xbox to Game Pass and selling subscription services. He's going to be there to see that out.

I said it a while ago, but gee no pressure on starfield to perform.
I can’t get my head around how they allowed redfall to launch in that state.. that’s just poor and inexcusable especially for a so called AAA game..
And that interview with Phil, if I were a potential Xbox owner again (haven’t had since the 360) you have completely lost me.
And even as he said, starfield could be the the greatest game ever..but even then i’am not sure that’s enough to swing anyone to purchase a second console. And once the dust settles on that … then what? Wait 10 years of another elder scrolls game..

I'm not sure on the doom and gloom yet, all these studios they acquired will surely bear fruit soon. But just being an involved gamer like most here I am definitely anecdotally notice a steady decrease in interest in the Xbox platform. The Xbox users in my Destiny clan are actually starting to slowly shift to either PC or PlayStation.
Bethesda need some more studios though. I'm not sure in this time it's feasible to be putting out one game every 100 years. Fallout and Elder Scrolls are big names and would sell more than enough but for brand exposure it's not doing much. Microsoft would surely be after more than one hit from them per generation as I'd assume Bethesda are meant to be one of their major draw cards. They're going to need another Obsidian type to start putting out their games in parallel.

Yes, being honest is great but if an AFL coach said they could never win a flag because they are a newer team & they don’t have father son picks it’s time to switch coaches.
Be truthful but you can never give up if your leading a team.
