Ai-Chan eh? Excuse me one moment ...
When I first got in Yakuza a few years ago, I had read that there are some women from the JAV industry in the games. I thought 3 or 4 maybe. But it would seem they might actually outnumber the actual characters. 😂

Takasugi is hilarious. Mocking Shinada that even his children can figure out stuff that Shinada can’t and bringing up each one at random times. His children are in Grade Three, Grade Four and Grade Six. 😂

I said a few pages ago that I would rank Yakuza 3 at the bottom when ranking the Yakuza 0-6 games. But after playing Yakuza 5 again, I would say I need to revise that and place Y5 at the bottom. It is a largely forgettable game.

It’s not even the length. Yakuza 0 (not as long) and LAD (longer) are both long games but have great stories. Yakuza 5 has a forgettable story.

Usually you would say bigger is better, but yeah 5 is way too big. By the time chapter 3 is done you're ready to see a culmination of the story. For me the story is literally forgettable because by the ~40 hour mark you forget what happened 3 parts ago lol. I'm in the final part and as everything was coming together I was actually trying to remember who some of the characters were lol. I think I might have it above 3 and 4 still (mainly because I didn't spend long when both of those too I guess) but we'll behind the others.

Good thing that Yakuza returns to form with 6 and not a grind to get through at all. Y5 was a huge grind.

I haven't played 6 since I didn't really appreciate the series much. So looking forward to giving it a proper play. If all goes to plan I should be finished with 5 tonight. Hopefully not getting Shinada's extra moves doesn't bite. I'll probably just spam heat moves with his boss fight. The others who I've completed I've just been spamming their L1+triangle tiger counter and following up with a heat move lol. Absolute cheese.

I reckon you will really enjoy 6. That last boss fight. You really see just how much of a legend Kiryu is, such good dialogue and cutscenes before that fight. You will also see why I said a few days ago that the upcoming Gaiden feels like a true Y7.

Not sure if you’re playing these games through PS Plus Extra/Deluxe because 6 is on there as well.

Y5 in the books. Stats say 55:48 for only 25.87% completion. Stuff me there must be a lot of mini games and other side stuff like the chicken racing lol. I did all substories bar the few for each character that appear in the final part. Also finished all Kiryu's taxi stuff, most of Saejima's hunting stuff, quite a bit of Haruka's idol crap (never again lol), all the food stuff, completed every character's training except for Shinada and played the odd mini game. The final sequence was soooo long. I timed nearly one hour of exposition from the moment you kick off the finale. Then there is more for each section and boss fight. So well over 2 hours.

Tomorrow night it's back to familiar territory as I boot up 6. I can finally see the light at the end. I've wanted to do this run for the longest time but worried about the commitment. I'm glad I stuck it out. 3 and 4 were going to be the first hurdle if I had the stomach for playing through some dated games (and 4 was my first entry on PS3 and I didn't enjoy it at the time) then would I have the stamina to get through 5.

After 6 I will definitely be replaying LAD because it will be so much better knowing what I do now. Also when I first played it I put it down for months before going back. The lighter nature of LAD is fun because the Kiryu saga can be quite heavy at times.

Shinada’s story ended well. Milky-chan is giving him 90 minutes for 3000 yen. 😂

Aizawa’s
health bar was taking the piss. 😂

So with this Sacred Tree armour for Tanimura, do I need all 3 pieces? Or just 1?

Not sure, but if you don't want to cry on his boss fight then grab whatever needed for the immunity to gun knock down. I got through without it but I wished I had known about the tree armour before hand.

I didn't realise how many health bars that colour was at first lol. It didn't take too long to chomp through though spamming tiger drop and keeping a weapon just for heat actions.

With all bosses I watch their move set first and find a move I can read easily first then just abuse whatever R1+triangle is for any character. Didn't get to do this with Shinada because I didn't finish his training so I just resorted to cheap dodge jabs until I had heat and could do a weapon finisher.

Bastard had 9 health bars and it even regenerated. So I am there thinking I am making progress and all of a sudden, “He’s on BLUE!?! I thought I got him down to green.”. Very frustrating. 😂

I didn't even know what to do when healed. It wasn't like K1 where you used a matching heat move. It was such a short window. Luckily he didn't heal too much. Did it twice to me though the prick.

One of the previous games had regen bosses (K1?j but you could still do damage when you hit the boss as he was regenerating. You just kept bouncing off
Aizawa
, while he was healing himself lol.

It’s like the game is scripted to let him heal.

Majima is such a great character. At first he just seems like "mad dog of Shimano" but he is actually quite deep when you start to learn about his back story and when it comes to Saejima and Kiryu he actually means really well.

If I were to cosplay any character then it would be Saejima though 😄. I already shave my head mostly out of convenience to maintain, and I've been wearing cargo pants and baggy jackets and jumpers since the 90s which I never grew out of. Also over 6ft and solid frame as well. I love his story and playing as him but really don't like large parts of his chapters lol. His fighting style is awesome when levelled up. By the end of 5 I had him maxed out (except a couple heat levels) and full training and he is just a walking tank that can't be knocked down. I also really like Akiyama, he might even be my favourite after Kiryu and he seems to be the most fleshed out of the ally characters.

Just played the intro to 6. Majima, Saejima and Akiyama look soooooo good in those early cut scenes. Also great to be able to simply save from the mobile phone again.

Yep, what a guy! You could really hear the concern in his voice that he squished his friend.

How are you finding Y6? I love this particular game engine and can only imagine Y3 and 4 on this engine. The only thing I wished was designed into it (very easy to implement) is for the chat box. Clicking X once skips the dialogue and you’re into the next paragraph. On previous games clicking X once would pause the chat box. The “options” button on the controller works for pausing the chat box, so at least that’s an option I guess.

Sixpence , what game are you up to currently?

6 is good. It has been so long since I played it and more of it makes sense this time. I only wish you could see substories on the map.
