Can we meme Richardson now?
"...I'd have killed you.. when first, we met"
"If you're looking for Daigo, Mine's taken him up to the rUf "
Yakuza 5. You can’t convince me that RGG didn’t borrow ideas from Street Fighter. WTF issupposed to be? If this person exists in the world, you better take a wide berth.Kugihara
Hahaha nailed it, I was trying to think what he might have been meme'd from.
I'm still in Saejima's chapter but I think I'm late into it. At first I didn't like the mountain stuff but then I found it relaxing and have done about 95% of the hunting missions. Have just been stuffing around Tsukimino but about to wrap that up and move onto J-Pop simulator.
Finished the Akiyama section. Story hasn't really captured me yet, though Majima popping up at the end made it a bit more interesting.
Excited to play the Saejima section as it starts pre-Y0 story.
I think what hurts the games is if you're just playing them for the sake of getting through. 4 is definitely my least favourite but it probably didn't help that I was just going from story mission to story mission. 5 is the same formula but because I'm actually playing it more as it was intended I'm having a much better time. Akiyama is probably my favourite character after Kiryu and I really like Saejima's story but I didn't like his chapter of 4. His chapter in 5 I started off thinking the same but the longer I invested the more I appreciated it. I won't spoil it but Saejima's life is one big sad tale and 5 fleshes it out quite a bit more. In 5 I'm up to Shinada now. 5 is an absolute monster of a game. I definitely don't recommend just powering through 5 though and instead take a breather and come back wanting to play it.
Really looking forward to getting to 6 and being back in familiar territory but I'm likely to play 7 and Lost Judgment while on this roll lol.
I loved 6 and cannot wait to get back into it. The story was amazing, the game engine was excellent and the final parts with Kiryu was such good acting and dialogue. Don’t let it be said that video gaming doesn’t contain great acting and Yakuza does that aspect very well.
On Tanimura, the voice actor from the original (Hiroki Narimiya) retired from the business (after a cocaine scandal) and was replaced in the remaster by Toshiki Masuda.I think Kineicho is my favourite city in all of the games. Shinada, like Tanimura, feels kind of shoehorned in though so they could have an even 4 character chapters. Given 5 feels more like 4 or 5 individual games sewn together I'm not sure how necessary Shinada actually is. The game is already a monster and I'm actually starting to forget minor details that happened in Kiryu's chapter. I'm not sure how much of Shinada's baseball stuff I'm going to do. For every character I've done most of their individual stuff, all their sub stories bar one or two (I assume they show up in final chapter in Kamurocho) and unlocked all of their special abilities. I think once I finish Shinada's chapter I'm just going to bee line for the end.

After playing as Shinada a bit more, are your thoughts a bit different. I actually enjoy how it’s a bit light-hearted (until you get deeper into it) and they do the down in the dumps thing very well. After having his last yen taken from him from a loan shark, his stomach starts rumbling.
I like the character but I just think his chapter feels forced. I'm also not a big fan of his fighting style. I do think his mate Uno is funny too lol. I probably won't finish his training like I did for everyone else and I find I'm just spamming his square > triangle > circle combo. I'll just equip everyone with decent armour, feed them up and go for the end I think.
Takasugi on Uno, “I’m sure he’ll be back after he blows his load.”
Trying to find which brothel he was going to was both hilarious and a reminder these really are mature games for adults.
I’ll say.
