Newman is on the Rookie List. Unless he's upgraded he has no chance of playing Round 1. And even if he's upgraded he has little chance of playing Round 1 because of his off-field indiscretions. I like the theory of having more rookies in the mids, but I feel you play too much catch up by not having enough of the best scorers in your side.

totally agree with your thoughts, not so sure about JKH but McDonald is the only Fwd or Def rookie i have any confidence in starting R1, i think a lot of people will be dissapointed with their rookie choices come Rd1.

Happens every year then everyone poos there pants and get trigger happy with the trades

I'm going with only 4 premium mids this year too, so you aren't alone. I agree with you. The mids are where the cash is this year and if you pick the right ones you could be laughing at the end of the year. In fact our rookie mids are identical except I have Hallahan and you have Aish. I'm starting to think that starting Rohan at F6 (JKH back to bench) is the way to go now.

Sure Rohans not the highest scorer going around but besides McDonald he is the only rookie priced player I have any faith in playing every week besides the typical mid rookies that have all been talked about.

With a 3.5x mid premo set up, you really need to have your defence (& fwd) absolutely solid, Suckling at D3 & Shaw at D4 isn't that!

Suckling should be at D5 and Lmac at D6 - note KK yet to play in preseason!

He's a premo ruck, but you need to downgrade Goldy to cheaper 1st ruck (look to eventually upgrade rucks to best performers - last year Goldy & Minno weren't in top 10 by cost initially)

Make sure no rookie on your benches cost more than 135k,

Keep playing around with your side and see what you come up with & post again,

Still need to fill the F5 spot, Not sure I want Mitchell, so I was going to downgrade to Zorko and fill the last spot with Wright, BUT I nearly fell into the Wright trap last year, so I'm not sold.
