I put Pav in, got Wright as well. Left with 25k. I suppose Wright at F5 is better than Rohan.

Don't get me wrong, I like the pick, will either be a major fail or a master stroke. I just think you should downgrade Kennedy to another premium back.

Finished in the top 1200 last year. Here is my first attempt team. Taking the risk with Hawkins-Higgins, surely it can't be worse than starting Karnezis and Jack Watts last year.
Just made my 2nd team which I think is better. Would you guys pick my first team or second team? Thanks

I like the team... only thoughts are that Bartel is not filling me with confidence this year for some reason, I went for Hibberd instead and saved $55,000ish, not sure that Murphy can handle the tag especially with Judd out for a while at the start of the year, query on Roughead with no Buddy... will he get extra attention? Higgins an obvious risk, but good on you for giving him a go!

I like the backs, I have doubts on Murphy without Judd and the extra pressure on him early in the season, not sure about Zorko either... he hasn't been on my radar. Loving Rockliff and Cotchin.

you need to work on your rookies
if i was you i would swap out Sheed for Polec
next you might wanna look at the expensive rookies that you have; specifically KK in the backs and Billings and Hogan in the fwd. Can you make just as much money and score similar with others? you might think about downing one of the fwds to rohan and keeping the extra cash for a rainy day... is KK gonna play rd 1? i personally like the looks of langdon back there
lastly i don't think Fuller will play rd 1 either - he hasn't played either NAB challenge has he?
edit: Hibberd might have injury cloud over him as well

Thanks, dude... yeah, just had a look at those rookies and hibberd just had a minor hammy and should be back round 1, 2 at the worst so I will keep him there for now.
Not loving the cheap backline options so going strong there at this stage. Thoughts? $50,000 remaning.

Not named for tomorrow night's game. I guess we'll have to wait and see if he plays in their final practice match. Bit of a worry though.
Your Forward line is suffering because of it too.You could possibly scrape 150k by swapping out Cripps and Laidler for cheaper rookies and maybe swap Ryder for someone like McIntosh/Hickey. That would allow you to go Menzel > Wright.
Unless you think Menzel will breakout this season.

long time lurker first time poster.
any thoughts would be great guys..
gone a bit midfield heavy this time. going for a higher overall rank than league rank.
harry taylor as my POD in the backline.. happy to take home his 90+ every week. I believe laidler will play so going to keep him there too..
midfield will get me all my points. collingwood have a tough draw leading up to the bye. so looking to pick up pendelbury after the byes.. jack as another sort of POD. could possibly look to downgrade thomas to polec if I need the cash elsewhere.
couldnt decide on any other ruck combo. hampson and grundy appealed to me. but not enough.
danger martin and mitchell are locked into my fwd line. betts looked like value at that range.. will look to upgrade him come bye time.. and yes I know someone will yell at me for selecting higgins.. and yes ive also said no more to higgins more times than ive sworn ill never drink again. but one like the other.. too hard to succumb too.
please guys any thoughts (figured a way to put up pics for those who dont read text teams) cheers

So this is an idea someone else suggested, I'm not sure if it would be beneficial or not, but have a look at my proposed team. Does it look wrong?
The idea is to have 3 rucks, spread over all three bye rounds so can hopefully claw back 80-100 over the bye rounds (two rounds where a premium would be in the top 18 instead of a rookie). If Sandilands misses say 1 game before the byes, that could be equal to another 50-110 points depending on cover. But maybe the extra 300k spent on upgrading Thurlow to Jacobs could be spent better elsewhere?
Perhaps just having Dixon in the forwards would have the same effect?

Not sure having an extra ruck to cover the byes is a good thing. Your going to miss out on points in other positions as it forces you to have players like Darling higgins and Grimes who are pretty ordinary at best. No Mitchell or Mcveigh in the backs is a concern too. If i was going to pic 3 rucks though Jacobs wouldnt be one of them thats for sure
