Something to entertain those of us who are tragic enough to be hanging around even now... when there's absolutely nothing happening.... ;)

A couple of weeks ago, someone (silverscope perhaps??) started a thread that asked you to list your 10 favourite ex-Dockers...

I have taken that idea (thanks :thumbsu:) and refined it a little... so I am now asking you to *vote* for your 5 favourite ever players - past or present - to pull on the purple at any time (even if it was just at training cos they never plated a senior game...)....

I'll leave it a week or so, then tally up the result (for something to do...) and give us all a bit of light entertainment while we are waiting for the pre-season games to kick off and give us something to really talk about...

To help you out - I have compiled these lists below of every player who has ever been on the senior list at Freo (as well as including the current rookie listed players. Players that have only ever been on the rookie list but not ever (i) made it to the senior list or (ii) played a game have not been included... mainly because I can;t be bothered trying to find out who they all are).

So without further ado - here are the lists:

Thanks IP! but i can't take any credit as it was not me who made the thread your referring too ' matt_nicholls ' is the person who created that thread http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=528804 .

Anyway my top 5 would be;

5. Luke Toia
4. Shane Parker
3 Shaun McManus
2. Matthew Pavlich
1. Justin Longmuir

I can't go past Luke as when he was playing i absolutely loved the little nugget its jus unfortunate that injurys cut him short (excuse the pun) and the next four could go in any order they are all great but Toia is my all time favourite :)

this is hard!

5. Pav
4. Dale Kickett
3. Troy Cook
2. Chopper (love him already)
1. Adrian Fletcher

Sorry people - can we do it like we do the best player votes after a game - 5 votes for your most favourite player down to 1 vote for your 5th favourite player. Makes it easier when tallying votes later. Thanks. :thumbsu:

5) Dale Kickett
4) Rhys Palmer
3) Paul Medhurst
2) David Mundy
1) Chris Mayne, for his attack so far.

How sad that you guys have nothing better to do than rank players ......:p

5 Dale 'Kicketty' Kickett
4 Pavlich
3 Clive 'Crazy Horse' Waterhouse
2 Troy 'Cannonball' Cook
1 Shaunny Mac

Apologies to Warnock and Josh Carr - for being tossers

I narrowed it down to 10... which was hard enough, then picked my 5 from there... They are all recent / current players - I spent 1997-2000 seasons o/s, so my view is a bit more skewed toward the players that have really made an impact on me from 2001 onwards.

My favouritest ever was easy - after that it got much more difficult.

5. Matthew Pavlich (God among men)
4. Paul Hasleby
3. Jeff Farmer
2. Troy Cook
1. Paul Medhurst

(Just missing out - in no particular order... JLo, Roger, Elvis, Modra, Heath Black...)

Fantastic thread. After following freo for only a relatively short time, my votes are as follows -

5. Matthew Pavlich (Star, champion player and bloke....yum)

4. Roger Hayden (My buddy, a quiet individual who goes about his job without much ado)

3. Garrick Ibbotson (Future captain)

2. Jeff Farmer (A true character of the game and I shed a tear when he retired)

1. Chris Mayne (PASSION PASSION PASSION!!)

5. Andrew Wills- Bald head, wind mill celebrations, loved him as a kid
4. Luke McPharlin- Always reliable for a huge grab and when he's on forward or back he's unbeatable
3. Scott Chisolm- Always smiling and unpredictable, quick, skilful and frustrating at times.
2. Matthew Pavlich- Doesn't need any explanation he's Pav
1/2 vote each-
Aaron Sandilands- Massive unit who is capable of moving up this list easily. His game against Geelong was outstanding, if he shows more aggression towards the ball and can kick more goals he'lll be unstoppable
Chris Bond- Maybe a surprise selection but he is everything I admire in a footballer. Hard at it, disciplined, proffesional, a great attitude and did the small things for the team.

5. Crazyhorse
4. The Pav
3. Kickett
2. Hayden
1. Medicare (Toia)

Could have even done this for top 10. Unlucky to Haze, J Lo, Elvis, Modra, Headland.

5. James Clement (still remember those 5 match winning goals he kicked against the bombers at waverly park)
4. Paul Medhurst (9 goal game vs lions was awesome)
3. Brodie Holland ( 21 disposals and 3 goals in his second game was excellent, not many players have a better 2nd game than that)
2. Leigh Brown ( his 18 disposals and 14 marks was a match winning effort vs the bombers in 2002)
1. Chris Groom ( sentimental reasons, was a key player at CHF/Ruck in West Preston's Diamond Valley A Grade - Division 1 premiership in 2003)

For me:

Troy Cook
Dale Kickett
Mathew Pavlich
Paul Haselby
Peter Bell

Very hard to keep it to 5 and miss the two great entertainers in Jeffrey and Clive

I can do the top 3 off the top of my head:

5. Pav - boring and predictable I know, but he's just a god. Best thing to ever happen to this club.

4. Kickett - his heroic deeds will forever be treasured by those who were around in the dark, early days.

3. Hayden - still the most underrated Freo player ever. It's been a privilege to watch him play.

Then I have to go look at the list:

2. Chisholm - they say there's a fine line between genius and insanity and Scotty used to cross back and forth 10 tines a game. No one encapsulated the schizophrenic nature of the early Dockers better than Chisholm.

1. Palmer - I debated whether to include someone who's only played one season but you can't help but love Palmer for the way he runs himself to exhaustion every week for the team.

Cookie is probably the most unlucky to miss out on votes - and I can see Chopper quickly rising up in my rankings in future years too.
