FB: Dean Polo, Will Thursfield, Luke McGuane,
HB: Jordan McMahon, Kelvin Moore, Chris Newman
C: Matthew Richardson, Shane Tuck, Ben Cousins
HF: Jack Reiwoldt, Joel Bowden, Nathan Brown
FF: Mitch Morton, Jay Schulz, Trent Cotchin (if fit)/ Daniel Connors

Emergencies: Shane Edwards, Daniel Jackson, Andrew Raines, Jayden Post, Kane Johnson

Side notes:

* If Cotch is fit, Connors drops down to the bench and Tambling drops out.
* Want Polo given the job on the small forwards, or, Tambling gets the job.

Assuming all players are fit:

B: Moore Thursfield Newman
HB: Raines McGuane Edwards
C: White Tuck Deledio
HF: Bowden Richo Cotchin
F: Brown Riewoldt Morton
R: Simmonds Cousins Foley
INT: Graham Bowden McMahon Polo
EMG (from) : Johnson Hughes Connors Thomson Rance Pattison

Tambling needs some time in the twos.
For a team like Richmond, it is unbelievably hard to get players like Nahas, Connors and Rance, who all should be playing IMO, into the team.

EMERG:From: Polo, Rance, Schulz, Thomson, Johnson, King and Connors

That side is assuming Cotchin is not fit.
Polo and Jackson will be battling out to be our tagger this year. Jacko just has the edge atm.

Hughes is our only FF prospect atm. Vickery, Putt and Gourdis are still not ready. Jack is not a stay at home FF. Which is why Hughes will play round 1.

Yeah, a valid point for sure Morro. I really like Rance too. I just think with 80 - 90k at the MCG and a must win game, I think McGuane. Sure, a good stepping stone for Rance to be thrown in at the deep end, but McGuane, Moore, Thursty works so well for us.

Yeah you are probably right but I still reckon I would find a spot for him.

I reckon he will be placing alot of pressure on McGuane to perform after that effort though which can only be a positive :thumbsu:

Hey guys most of the teams posted are pretty similar.

I am intersted as to why Rance isnt in anyones teams.

He linked up well last night, had 16 touches and in my opinion showed more than Mcguane last week.

Thoughts?

It's the team for a big round one game. I'm a huge fan of Rance but I think we should be going for experience in Round 1 and then see if there are any players injured or under-performing and make the adjustments.

McGuane is lightyears ahead of Rance. He is still underrated imo. Don't be suprised if he is our number one tall defender by the end of the year. Has had a massive preseason apparently.

I think Rance will struggle to shift McGuane, Moore or Thurstfield out of the side as these three look the cornerstone of our defence for the next 5 years. But he will come straight in if any get injured, and may even push out a rebounding small from the team like a McMohan or Polo.

On multiply occasions we played 4 of Moore, McGuane, Schultz, Thurstfield and Polak last year so there is room for 4 talls down back, esspecially if Bowden plays foward most of the year

Was tempted to cut McMahon for Polo but its not going to happen.

Some decent players will miss out rd 1 for a change.

wallace needs to speak to a few players in particular including Schulz that this could be his last year along with Cleavage Hughes. Notice that Cotchin isnt in only because of his foot soreness. otherwise hes a certainty. Raines needs to learn to become accountable otherwise hes ok. Notice aswell that McMahon doesnt even deserve a spot, he never mans up and causes too many turnovers.

Johnson is the tricky one, i think we should try put him on the half back line again where he used to play.

I dont think this is our best 22 but this is how i think we will line up round 1.

You're crazy, spud_jjj.

But seriously I'm not sure, even if you dont rate Jack, how you put Vickery who has shown far less at FF.

More potential/upside for Vicks IMO. Young Jack doesn't look anywhere near 3cm shorter than Richo, or 4cm shorter than Simmonds. To be fair, Jack needs another 3 years before he can graduate to a KP forward.

He's not crazy he's just stupid. He's in our top 10 best players already imo.

Christ! I thought Bigfooty was a place to express your opinions! Don't forget I do support The Richmond Tigers, Barnzey. Here's what I believe to be Richmond's top 10 players, in no particular order....

Richo
Lids
Cousins
Newman
Browny
Axle Foley
Bowden
Cotchin
Thursfield/Moore
Simmonds

Can't see the Riewoldt fitting in before those 10/11 names......

I'll be sure to watch Richmond games more intently, with particular focus on J.Riewoldt, and I will happily admit I'm wrong, but I can only base my judgements on what I've seen so far in JR's career. I hope he proves me wrong :thumbsu:

BF is the place to express your opinions but in my opinion I don't think you can rate Vick infront of JR with him only playing 1 NAB Cup game. Also to say that he has more upside/potential is crazy. JR will be star, Vickery is up in the air as he could turn out very good or could be a dud,

Your list of 10/11 names is very good but I think we would struggle more without JR than Bowden. Sorry If offended you though, thats just my thoughts. :)

B: Raines Thursfield Moore
HB: Newman McGuane Polo
C: Richo Cuz McMahon
HF: Cotch Schulz Morton
F: Brown Riewoldt Edwards
R: Simmonds Tuck Foley
I: Patto Thomson White Bowden

E: Jackson Tambling/Hislop Cogs

Delids just needs another season at Coburg to prove himself? ;)
An oversight I assume...

Anyway, here's my team:
(assuming Cotch unavailable and Jackson to run with number 5 from Carlton - forget his name)

FB: Raines Thursfield Moore

HB: Newman McGuane Mcmahon

C: Tuck Deledio Richardson

HF: White Riewoldt Cousins

FF: Brown Bowden Morton

R: Simmonds Jackson Foley

INT: Johnson Tambling Polo Graham

EMER: Thompson Rance Hughes

This is more a team that I think will be selected, as much as the team I would like to be selected. But not alot of difference anyway.

I think you will find that the likes of Connors, Edwards and Rance will come into favour as a few injuries take their toll.

Newman to take that front running simpson and Jackson to Judd, wouldn't be surprised to see Tuck in the square early to add further physical pressure ?

Which injuries?

i agree with most of that but i do not see the need of jackson to be in the middle unless he is tagging sum1 an for god sakes i went to skl with angus graham he is no good he never was he was just tall and thats it this is clearly evident in the way he has played in the praccy matches an infact the whole time he has been at the much beloved tigers an do not try an tell me i dont no what im talkin about ive played vfl before but otherwise i would agree throw cousins in the middle its how we are goin to win games this yr
