Its time already folks. Reached the half way point. Who can you see your team putting up for trade. For Eagles I think quite a few will be traded. On the table will be

1. Ben McKinley (Trade to Doggies for 2nd rounder)
2. Brett Jones (trade to Brisbane for a 3rd rounder)
3. Mark Seaby (trade to Hawks with Wilkes for a 1st rounder around 15)
4. Ashley Hansen (trade to Sydney for a packet of twisties)
5. Beau Wilkes (send him to Hawthorn with Seabs)
6. Brent Staker (trade to Essendon for anyone with pace, maybe add a 2nd rounder and get a Jetta etc)

All but Mark Seaby are contracted beyond the year so no freebies really. Seaby isnt likely to screw the club over anyway so I imagine a trade will still be worked out. As far as trade targets I think Eagles will target a small forward quite hard and maybe pick up a dud ruckman on the cheap

We can't trade for (decent) players because of the salary cap situation and clubs massively overrate draft picks so we wouldn't trade any players that don't want to leave, we wouldn't get fair value and it would only send us backwards.

The guys that could put themselves on the table, that can play a bit and just aren't getting regular games through lack of opportunity, would be Gamble, Hogan, West.

Whose out of contract and could leave to chase the money. I could see Eagles going after a Varcoe/Stokes if they were to be made available

Not sure about contracts. The major ones would be the old guys (Harley, Milburn) and the long term fringe (Tenace, D.Johnson) plus a few of the younger guys that haven't had a crack. Not anyone of interest. Cats usually sign up required players long term which has it good and bad points. Whoever decided Tenace was essential and gave him a 3 year deal has a lot to answer for!

McKinley's been found out this year JW, he'll be on the trading block and any team looking for a lazy under sized full forward who offers nothing around the ground should be able to secure him for a 2nd round pick. ;)

Who is Beau Wilkes and why would we be giving you our first round pick in the last uncomprimised draft for him and a washed up ruckman?

From the Hawks side, I cant really see any obvious trade bait on the list. Dowler and Muston are starting to show something after injuries and Thorp/Boyle probably have no real trade value.

I think we may have the core 3 delistings, draft some kids and go from there.

This time already

Cats will again be quiet. No cash to spend and only fringe players or those not making the grade will be available. Most of the required players have either been signed up or have made a pact to stay together.

I would suggest only Lonergan and perhaps Mumford would maybe have a look around but if they did there wouldn't be a great deal coming back our way.

Prismall went for a second round pick last year, Acker the same the year before. Gone are the days where clubs are willing to part with first rounders unless it's for the likes of a Judd. Even Ryan O'Keefe wasn't a guaranteed first round trade last year so those wanting one for Seaby.................tell em he's dreaming!!!

gee thats a shame..thought he had alot of potential when i saw him in last yr games

He does have potential but his potential is to be a better under sized full forward, he's useless if he's not within 40 metres of goal or not the teams main target in the forward 50.

At West Coast he's been badly shown up by Mark LeCras, who is a far superior prospect, more potential to become a complete player.

History has proven teams with under sized key forwards don't win flags (or finals really) but McKinley could be a good performer in a key position for a middle of the road/poor side.

Essendon's won't seem to appealing to anyone i wouldn't think.

1. Jay Nash - Don't want him to go, but will probably be delisted if not traded.
2. Nathan Lovett-Murray - Wouldn't be surprised to see him shopped around, although will probably stay if not traded.
3. Leroy Jetta - Don't think he'll go either, but some offers might be looked at.

For essendon, would love to get McKinley across, would trade our 2nd pick for him. He is the exact type of player we need, and Knights would set him straight in terms of laziness.

Your an idiot. Although i would consider trading Stevens for a 2nd round pick...or a young KPP but of course there in high supply:p

Why am I an idiot? You're contradicting yourself with your last sentence.

My idea of trade-bait might be different to others. There is no use offering up players that no one will take. It's about fine-tuning your list and working out what is the best compromise. If all three of those players were considered untouchable then I'd be very disappointed.

Armfield would be untouchable IMO a young player that will be with our team for many years. Yes I did contradict myself:eek: Yet I doubt many teams would want the dead wood of Stevens..

He could be the answer to our small crumbing forward option so maybe we can give him a look in as I'm still not confident that Jacky will make it.

Embers are you for real? How stupid do you think other clubs are? Why would any club want to trade for your clubs broken down old hacks some living off past premiership glory? Most of the guys you have mentioned cant get a game in the team currently sitting 13th on the premiership ladder for christs sake!!!!!!
Seaby, Hansen, Wilkes and Staker will all be delisted at seasons end unless they turn around there form considerably. To say some are wo. rth a 2nd or 3rd rounder is laughable
This post is like me replacing the names you have mentioned with the names Ryan Murphy, Daniel Gilmore, Andrew Browne and Josh Head. They are all hacks that are past there used by date!!!!

hehe

Your thoughts on Thornton? He is surplus with Austin, Bower and Jamison taking the three tall defender spots.

I'm trade crazy but I'd be surprised if we would offload him unless it got us someone we were really after. It would also depend on whether our other plans fail.

I'd hate to elaborate for fear of supporters of the club/clubs in question making it an issue. Let's just say that could involve a club that is gathering a surplus of tall marking forwards. It is wish rather than a rumour.

Fair enough but we will have to agree to differ. Armfield is not as young as many second year players so I guess I'm not judging him as I would a player who has just turned 18 or 19; Browne and Joseph are more integral. If trading Armfield was part of a plan to get someone we thought we really needed to the club then so be it. Army is good to have around but I don't think he'll prove essential.
