Your teams trade bait come years end

Doubt any will happen and obviously a lot will depend on who is coach, but the following are posibillities

David Hale - needs to buck up his ideas, not sure what his value would be, seems to have confidence issues
Daniel Harris - was floated last year and apparently there were offers but not what we wanted...worth less now and a new coach might want him to stay but Swallow has been good this year
Corey Jones - not sure anyone else would want him but if he doesn't take his chance this week you'd think he's out the door at the end of the season anyway..might be a late pick or PSD.
Todd Goldstein - would be a great pick up for anyone wanting a ruckman for the next 10 years, could depend on what happens with Hale because with Hmac, Petrie and Hansen already in the side there might only be room for one more. would be very dissapointed if he left but he probably won't want to keep playing VFL.

Lyndsay Thomas - Not playing to anywhere near his potential, only an outside chance, but plenty of sides might be on the lokout for his type of player

Ed Lower, Matt Riggio - Not really any trade value there, but possible delistings come the end of the season if they don't up their game

As a Dogs supporter I am more than happy the way the team is going.
But to get a quality player you may have to offload a quality player, so for any Bulldog supporters who think i dislike these players is wrong. This is purely hypothetical.

Daniel Cross -Ball magnet, hard at every contest, never beaten, we have a surplus of mid-sized players and could be a good trade
Dylan Addison - hard nut who is unlucky not to be in the team at the moment with the ascension of Callan ward
Wayde Skipper - Just will not get a game, but handy backup big man
Daniel Giansiracusa - Clever player, not as outside as a lot of people think. Kicks goals, number 1 goal assist player in the league.

All of these guys bar Skipper are very good players and apart from Addison would walk into any other side other than Geelong.

I don't think North have many players that would gain much interest towards the end of the year to be honest. Harris will probably look for a home elsewhere and Corey Jones' future is quite uncertain.

If we were going to trade, it'd be for skillful, smart midfielders (not obsessed about pace, just skillful and able to put it on a blokes chest)

From Richmond:
Coughlin
Raines
Moore
Shultz
King
Pettifer
JON
Connors

Any for the right price?

From Brisbane:
Jason Roe (if he plays well for the rest of the year then he will stay): possibly a secound rounder for roe + third rounder?
Scott Harding , once again only if he doesn't perform, cannot see him being traded.

McKinley's been found out this year JW, he'll be on the trading block and any team looking for a lazy under sized full forward who offers nothing around the ground should be able to secure him for a 2nd round pick. ;)

Last year Carlton went out on a limb to try and get him to the Blues. If he's up for grabs at the end of the year I could definitely see Carlton going after him again.

Do they really need him though? I'd think they'd be better served developing their small forwards around Fevola, and seeing who out of Brad Fisher, Setanta o'Hailpin or even Matthew Kreuzer (would make a good full-time CHF IMO) or whatever other younger players they have (or who they draft) to be their second Key Forward target.

McKinley definitely worth a look at. Possible straight swap with Jetta?

I must say a forward line consisting of McKinley and Neagle would be the laziest forward line I have ever seen. :D

1. Ben McKinley (Trade to Doggies for 2nd rounder)
2. Brett Jones (trade to Brisbane for a 3rd rounder)
3. Mark Seaby (trade to Hawks with Wilkes for a 1st rounder around 15)
4. Ashley Hansen (trade to Sydney for a packet of twisties)
5. Beau Wilkes (send him to Hawthorn with Seabs)
6. Brent Staker (trade to Essendon for anyone with pace, maybe add a 2nd rounder and get a Jetta etc)

McKinley might be worth a second round pick.
Bones wont fetch anything.
Seaby has little trade value, third round. Presuming someone needs a ruck men.
Hansen wont get traded, should have sent him to the bulldogs last year.
Wilkes, not a bad idea. Third round selection, the Hawks could do with someone like him.
Staker, Trade to the GC.

hahahahaha, some hilarious trades being proposed here. why the hell would we want brett jones? and cannot see dogs trading addison, cross or gia, all leaders of the club.

Because forward like Mark Williams carve you up every week. You traded for Travis Johnstone so clearly someone thinks your in premiership mode. Would be a great top up for your list

The players ive listed arnt bad. We may be 13th but our KPP depth is VERY strong. Wilkes isnt getting a game cos Eric McKenzie is who has proven to be a great CHB this year especially in the first 2 months where he was in AA form

Seaby cant get a game ahead of Cox and Natanui. No surprises there. Fact is Seaby rucked ahead of Warnock when both played at WAFL level last year and fact is Seaby is a better player than Simon Taylor.

Staker still has a chance to make it and a club like Essendon who are after that third tall would be his best bet.

Dogs wanted Hansen last year so maybe they want him again

McKinley would be welcome at alot of Vic clubs. At the Eagles we have Mark LeCras a deadset gun playing his spot. Good player on his day though is MCKinley

I was going to reply with the obvious, 'i'll give you half a packet of twisties!', refrain but i thought better of it. :D

I think they're after a small leading forward target, something which we've lacked ever since Matty Lappin retired. We've tried several players in that role to no avail. Could see Mckinley and Fev working well together.

I'd take whatever we can get from the following players:

L.Ablett
A.Buchanan
N.Malceski, depending on how he goes in the 2nd half of this year
T.Schmidt
E.Barlow
H.Playfair

The backline is the least of the Lions problems. McGrath takes the quick small forward and there are a few other players waiting in the wings at the Lions that you wouldn't have heard of. Jones leaked his fair share of goals last year and the last thing we need as well is another injury prone player with poor disposal skills. Can't see the Lions being interested.

Seaby I think is seriously underrated and would be a very handy acquisition for a fair few teams. He has a bad reputation and consequently I am not sure he has much value. I can't understand why he re-signed last time surely the writing was on the wall.

Wilkes looked pretty solid early last year and might interest a few teams but again if you can't force your way into the WC team somewhere you have to think there might not be much value.

For the Lions:

Charman - might look to move him for a lower round pick to a team of his choice.
Roe - I would not be surprised if someone took a punt on him but I am not sure anyone would trade for him.
Johnstone - anyone want him? The team plays better without him so it will be addition by subtraction. Second or more likely third rounder will get him.

Last year I'm sure this bloke was killing it, what happened?

Nah not at all, last year was his worst year in our stretch of finals appearances IMO and this year he hasn't been much better. Been in and out of the side without any real good performances. He used to do a tagging role for us and shut down an important opposition player but he doesnt do that anymore with Kirk and Jack doing tagging jobs and McVeigh often goign head to head with a dangerous opposition midfielder. He has a long penetrating kick on him but he doesnt use it enough, doesn't get enough of the ball and seems too defensive and too worried about his own man for mine.

Sounds like a Swans player to me.

I was just thinking today that surely Charman will be highly sought after come the end of the year, now that the Lions seem to be able to play without him quite well and are obviously not going to part ways with talented young players like Clark and Leuenberger.

Teams that need a ruckman should really have a go at him i reckon. 27 in a couple of months and i reckon definitely still got good footy ahead of him.
Collingwood (gives some help to Fraser and could make them one of the better ruck duos in the comp), Hawthorn (havent had an above average ruckman since Spida and could let Campbell stay down back to take the Gorillas) and Port (with Lade retiring soon and Brogan hitting the 30's soon) all jump to mind as possible locations for him. Just a thought...

yeh as soon as i posted that i thought someone was gonna jump all over it...

between like 2005-2007 he was playing really well and really was effective for us but the last few years dunno what it's been but he just doesnt seem anywhere near as effective around the stoppages or around the ground as he used to be...i'd rather his spot go to a youngster in our team, lord knows we need some more young 'uns

I'd prefer Charman rucking at Collingwood to either Chris Bryan or Leigh Brown. I think he'd be a great backup while Cameron Wood (who I think is worth persisting with) continues to develop. The developing Lachlan Keeffe can fill the 4th ruck spot on the list (who without injuries, will probably not get a game anyway), and suddenly the Magpies ruck stocks for both the present and future are looking a lot better :thumbsu:

Skipper/Addison may be traded but cant see people giving up much for either.
Neither cross or gia would be even slightly contemplated to be traded.
Cross won the b&f last year and is crucial in the midfield.
Gia is known around the club as the best leader - they wouldnt do it to team chemistry when pushing for a premiership.

Its time already folks. Reached the half way point. Who can you see your team putting up for trade. For Eagles I think quite a few will be traded. On the table will be

1. Ben McKinley (Trade to Doggies for 2nd rounder)
2. Brett Jones (trade to Brisbane for a 3rd rounder)
3. Mark Seaby (trade to Hawks with Wilkes for a 1st rounder around 15)

6. Brent Staker (trade to Essendon for anyone with pace, maybe add a 2nd rounder and get a Jetta etc)

All but Mark Seaby are contracted beyond the year so no freebies really. Seaby isnt likely to screw the club over anyway so I imagine a trade will still be worked out. As far as trade targets I think Eagles will target a small forward quite hard and maybe pick up a dud ruckman on the cheap
Once again your delusions of grandeur about the Eagles list wins out Embers.

Who are people kidding. Last draft before all the picks are stolen. Yeah, i'm sure all teams will be throwing their precious picks away to pick up guys like Seaby, Pettifer, and Playfair.

And Brett Jones for a 3rd rounder! Is that all?? You beauty!!

:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Your a bit hard on Brett Jones had a very good year last year and the year before.

This year has been terrible but has been effected by the unsual knee surgery to the back of the knee.

If he wasn't playing footy it would have been a 6 month injury to came back from, he returned after 3 months with no preaseason behind him.

He will be much better next year, and is much more valauble to us than anyone else.

As for Seaby he would be 3rd or 4th rounder if he can go to a club where he will get to be main ruckman and get more than 20 minutes a game rucking you will see he does have some ability.

He just needs time in the middle to improve.

He's playing some good footy for West Perth, its just up to him to prove himself if he gets a chance elsewhere.
