For West Coast

A H W
A Hansen 22 198 94
Q Lynch 22 194 101
A McDougall 22 197 91
B Staker 21 196 91

Hansen looks the most promising as he held down CHF and looked very good at times until the dreaded OP struck. Returned for the finals after missing several games but did not have the same effect as earlier in the season

Lynch was thrust into the full forward position due to injuries to B Smith and McDougall before the pre season cup and although he kicked over 30 goals looks a better option in defence or at Centre Half forward. No certianty to retain his position in the top 22 next year. Has age on his side though and could get better with more experience

McDougall struggled after missing all of the pre season and then getting injured in the first game of the season. Looked promising the year before at FF but needs to show more aggression next year to fullfill the expectations of the club

Staker seems to play like a flanker but has the size and agility to hold down a key forward position if his body matures

For West Coast there is plenty of promise IMO as all are capable but one or two must step up next season

Hmmm - I cant help but feel you have opened up a new can of worms here!

I'm aware of that

Made an honest apprasil i thought

No doubt there will be plenty on BF that will post the usual crap instead of appraising there own sides prospects

I know and I agree with what you have written.

I am quietly confident we can find the right mix up forward to make a good run at it in the next few years.

I would personally have Hunter up forward now for a bit. But I realise he is over 22.

Ben Rutten (22) 192 cm / 96 kg - All-Australian FB
Trent Hentschel (22) 194 cm / 92 kg - CHF/FF/CHB
Nathan Bock (22) 193 cm / 90 kg - CHB

All in our best 18.

McGregor is 24 but he still has a fair few good years ahead of him.

This time last year our club really rated Chad Gibson (195 cm / 95 kg). He was drafted as a 2-3 year project player. Pretty raw but a pretty big upside as well. Very athletic and in terms of his attack on the footy and the man, he is being compared to Jonathan Brown. He can come up big, or stink it up big.

NOTE: Not saying the kid has the talent of Jonathan Brown but his style of play is VERY crash and bang. He is not as good a mark as Brown nor is he a natural talent like Brown. He is just as hard at it as Brown, similar build and more athletic. Whether he makes it or not, time will tell.

Drag up my old thread, im sick of all the copying of my threads, I know my threads rock but at this rate I will have to start patenting my thread ideas.

heh its weird seeing those boys described in the context of a preliminary final. just a year ago i was writing about how they were all hacks that would lead the crows to a spoon.

a year is a long time in football

Well I rated all 3 of them and majority of crows supporters really rated Hentschel and Rutten but thought Bock was a dud after having an absolute stinker in SANFL GF, getting his arse kicked by Daniel Schell.

I was quietly confident all 3 will come good eventually. Rutten showed last year under Craig that he is a quality FB while Hentschel finished top 10 in the B&F and Bock played some good games here and there along with some stinkers. Bock is still prone to some real stinkers.

As for Ken McGregor, he has been a fine player for years and has been under-rated by a LOT of people. He probably still is under-rated.

Playfair (22), Ablett (19), Lonergan (21) and maybe Mackie (21) if he eventually fills out.

The big H will never be a star but could turn out to be a very handy CHF. Got into some good form midway through last season but struggled after his jaw was broken. Is very mobile for a 2m tall guy.

Ablett is no doubt the pick of the bunch, if he puts in the effort he will be a very good player. I think he's our CHF of the future as his creativity and ability to bring others into the play is a little stunted at FF.

Lonergan is a very good kick for goal....

Mackie has all the skills, great hands and a footy brain, the only problem is that he's as well built as a piece of string. At 192cm he could be a handy flanker if he doesn't bulk up, but if he does would make a very good FF.

There's also a kid called Tom Hawkins who will be drafted under the f/s rule next year who's got huge wraps on him.

I'm pretty happy with where we're at in the forward line, mainly due to the addition of Ablett. With all the hype about Hawkins we've got some good young key forwards to match our young midfield, just need Spencer and Egan to develop into a handy CHB/FB combo.

Roughead and Franklin are the main ones. Whilst Roughead has played down back, his position hasn't been defined yet and may end up as a forward. Apparently Roughead weighs 99kg now;

Roughead: 18, 193cm, 99kg.
Franklin: 18, 196cm, 87kg.

To lesser extent we have Boyle too, who was good in his first match against Port and then was injured in his 2nd or 3rd match;

Boyle: 21, 193cm, 92kg.

don't fret about it after all it was only 16 months ago woosha said that the eagles had no decent kp players and would trade aggressively to get some.

Ryan Murphy FF- could be anything or could be the next D Schell
Adam Campbell -FF who hasnt done a whole lot. Hope he is at least tried in a defensive position next year
Polak - make or break

as much as i hate to say it, i fear that dockers supporters seriously overrate the skill of mr murphy. id love for him to prove me wrong!

I'm no Dockers fan, but I seriously rate Murphy. There aren't too many guys drafted on their ability to play full-forward. Usually versatility and all the physical attributes gets you drafted, but Murphy has got there from playing his position and playing it well. How many WAFL goals in 2005? Between 40 and 50?

WAFL forwards generally don't kick a lot of goals, so that's a big effort. If Freo can have Murphy as a regular member of their side, 2007 onwards will be a very good time for the club. Murphy at FF frees up McPharlin to go back to CHB. That would then be a brilliant spine.

Actually he had a pretty down year this year although,Souths started playing him at FB. Last season he kicked 51 goals, the last rookie to do that was Brad Hardie in 81

The reason I made the Schell comparison was because he used to dominate WAFL as well but Murphy has not played even half a game as a forward for the Dockers,so it was a bit unfair
