Your three 2013 Predictions

1. Cotchin wins Brownlow
2. Jimmy "lil big swingin dick" Brayshaw says.... " its utter rubbish, we have complete faith in Brad. He has been terrific for our club and we think he's the best possible option for the future. He shares our vision going forward and we love what he's doing..."
...sparking immediate speculation a sacking is imminent.
3. Carlton top of the ladder early-mid season...gala new coach honeymoon run before a massive fadeout.

Sure

"Over the past four weeks though, things have gone too far.

Stanton has been booed and jeered at games. Not by the opposition’s fans, but by Bombers fans.

Sure supporters have every right to be frustrated at Stanton every now and then. However, to collectively heckle a player of your own team is totally unfair.

In fact it’s cowardly, unnecessary and ignominious. No player deserves to be treated like that.
It started in Round 6.

During the Bombers’ 139-point annihilation of Gold Coast, a small section of Bombers fans began to abuse Stanton.
Why?
Who knows. Their team kicked a world record 15 goals in one quarter and the midfielder was one of the best players on the ground.

The negative vibes were more prominent when Essendon hosted West Coast the following week.
When it was publicly announced he had been officially substituted out of the game for Angus Monfries, Bombers fans cheered.
Not for Monfries’ arrival, but for Stanton’s departure.

Due to a shoulder injury, Stanton didn’t travel up to Brisbane to take on the Lions in Round 8. However he did return for the ‘Dreamtime at the ‘G’ clash against Richmond on Saturday.
Stanton’s first kick of the match was a pinpoint 50 metre pass on the run to David Zaharakis at half-forward.
Then came two kicks that went straight into the hands of Richmond players. You know what happens next. Nothing had changed."

Gun:thumbsu:

I see you have quoted that from The Roar :)rolleyes:).
Needless to say, a minority of bogans jeering Stanton in the WCE game does not represent an entire supporter base. I seriously doubt it would have happened during the GC game and escape media attention, and during the Dreamtime game after the media had blown the situation up. But it doesn't matter, continue to generalise the entire Essendon supporter base based on the actions of a few loud bogans :thumbsu:

Go and have a look at the Stanton thread when this all happened. If you think it was a "few loud bogans" you are kidding yourself. Essendon supporters at the game talk about every Essendon supporter around them were booing or jeering Stanton - everyone except for them of course:rolleyes:. If your own are labelling your supporters the worst then it is hard to defend. But seeing that includes you - you have to try.

The old bronx cheer for finally taking a mark:thumbsu:

Anyway here is a refresher - enjoy the read.

http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/to-the-fans-that-cheered-when-stanton-was-subbed-off.822931/

"I swear, me, my father and our friend were the only Stanton supporters around us."
Oh don't worry, I've already been reading through that thread.

"Thankfully, there were none of these so called Essendon supporters in my immediate vicinity, next time something like that happens again I'm going to blow my top."

"However, unfortuneately there is, and have been for quite some time, a very vocal minority in the area"

"I was at the game on Sunday, and was outraged when I heard a small section of our crowd jeering Brent Stanton."

"I'm writing in response to the despicable behaviour of a vocal minority at yesterday afternoon's game after the announcement of Stanton's substitution. "

"Just know that those vocal few who do knock you are not reflective of the general opinion of the crowd. "

etc, etc.

Now it's disgraceful that Stanton received any sort of bronx cheering at all. It was an embarrassment. But if you think every Essendon supporter and their dog were doing it then you're deluded - 99% of Essendon supporters, both on BigFooty and on the radio, thought it was appauling. And if you also think this doesn't happen at every club then you're even more deluded.

I've heard Brad Miller get absolutely pasted by Richmond supporters during the Dreamtime match. I've heard Lachie Hansen get told to "piss off from North you s***c***". Crap like this happens at every club to a lot of players.

You may be right but that is not the point.

Well if you are the best the draw is neither hard or easy as you are better than every one else. Rarely even looked at the draw in the 90's. Most teams looked to when they played us - not the other way around.

We finished 8th and got the 2nd hardest draw - much harder than the top 4 Crows and the Reigning premiers - bent over? No a great challenge.

1. Everyone will write off Geelong but they will still make the finals.
2. Jack Watts will finally show why he was #1 draft pick, whilst Melbourne continue to struggle on field and Neeld is sacked.
3. Falou will walk out on the Giants mid-season after signing an NRL contract.

Surprised no one has thrown up a salary cap breach, wish I had of now.Every chance it will happen.

Some predictions are already coming true, with adelaide and falou leaving

Stanton is your second best midfielder, Miller was an old rookie who was fairly average, many tiger fans didn't think it fit with Richmond's youth plans.

Mufassa, I find your attitude about the draw refreshing. I'm not sure whether the hawks will win the flag though, the hunger will be there but clubs like Collingwood and West Coast have improved their lists IMO and even though Hawthorn didn't win the flag, I still feel teams feel like they're the team to hunt/beat. A lot of pressure on them in 2013 I feel. If Hawthorn don't win next year's flag, you have to say that's a few chances not taken.

Agree - if they only get 1 flag out of this list it is like Essendon 99-01. A wasted opportunity.

Hardest draw and still flag favourites!! I would take that in a heart beat - every year with no complaints. Nothing better than being the best. I had that in the 90's and hope to one day get it back.

Sure. There's a difference though in being flag favourites and actually winning the flag. I'll reserve judgement on Hawthorn until they actually win the thing. They looked sure things even up to the first quarter of the grand final. Nothing is assured. Premiership windows open. They also close. And mentally, there's only so many times you can get up for a grand final and lose before the belief and the desire fades. If Hawthorn make another grand final and lose, they well may fall away like St Kilda did. It takes a lot of mental fortitude to continue to strive and I think Hawthorn can be a bit mentally brittle. Look at their results against Geelong, not to mention the fact that they partially lost the grand final due to poor kicking as anything.

I have only one prediction I can think of: if Fyfe has an injury free pre-season, expect him to finish top 5 in the brownlow at least.

I like them more coming off a losing Grand Final. Easier to keep working in the pre season with the loss still fresh. Roos losing 98, Ess the 99 Prelim, Cats 08, WCE 05 - all were great the following year after a painful loss.

"Every" Essendon supporter was jeering Stanton? Holy shit, if "every" Essendon supporter was jeering him don't you think it'd be audible on TV? Let alone some people who actually went to the game attested to the fact that it was a few bogans. I can admit a large portion of our supporter base is composed of bandwagoners or clueless ****s, but it is completely unfair and bullshit to brandish the entire supporter base to jeering Stants

You must have mis read the post. I was quoting an Essendon supporter who said every Essendon supporter around him was jeering Stanton. Another poster that never jeered him?

I predict that the AFL will bend over the Hawks in regard to the draw......... oh wait.

I predict that Hawthorn supporters will incessantly complain about their draw..... oh wait.

3 more predictions of mine:
-A midfielder will win the Brownlow.
-More clubs will be investigated for alleged tanking.
-A high-profile media muppet or ex-player will be found by BF to have edited their own Wikipedia page.

Is that a bit of a stretch?

1. The top 8 remains almost identical to 2012 exept for 1 change.. With Essendon and Carlton to fight over North Melbournes spot..
2. Richmond do not sell any home games to seller dweller teams.. Therefor winning one more game in 2013 than they did in 2012 to climb up to.. 9th
3. Despite being the best player in the league again Ablett finish 2nd or 3rd in the Brownlow as the Suns only string together 4 wins
Not possible since we made a 3 year deal 2 years ago

1. Fremantle will finish top four
2. West Coast will only just make the 8 and bow out in the first final.
3. Tom Schneider will be picked back up by Hawthorn and Osborne will not be.

Gold Coast will have a poor year given they're expected to improve in their third year. This will be because Primus is midfield coach. McKenna will get the blame and I hope doesn't get the sack, but it seems likely.
