Your three 2013 Predictions

Remove this Banner Ad

1. Eddie McGuire will unveil his biggest scoop in his time in reporting football

2. North Melbourne supporters on Big Footy being fair and reasonable and admitting that North does have some problems and may not in fact be perfect

3. Richmond putting a case to the AFL that the finals series be expanded to include a wild card team from outside the eight, based on a combination of ladder position, percentage, closeness of losses and desperation of supporters.

1. Essendon will no longer be troubled by soft tissue injuries. Unfortunately these have been replaced by joint, bone and ligament injuries.

2. Mark Neeld by years end sacking at least three of this years top draft choices. They are not fitting in with his plan for Melbourne. The search for players there continues.

3. Chris and Brad Scott will follow through on their New Years resolutions and go through the season without whinging, complaining and bitching

im working on it. no membership this year and wont go to many games. its difficult cause i still love the club and i used to love the sport......old habits die hard and all that.

Oh woe is me, let me just get as much attention as I can before I pretend to leave the forum for good. Meanwhile you create another alias and post again if it looks like the Hawks will be up the top again.

Pathetic.

1. hawthorn to get off to a good start and embrace the challenge of having a tough draw

2. a good run with injurries will see collingwood and west coast make the grand final.

3. carlton and essendon to climb into the 8 and replace geelong and north

-I predict Essendon will continue to have crappy fitness staff and try to break their own record of number of soft tissue injuries in a year.
-By round 5 Essendon will be top 4 and their supporters will be claiming they are the best team ever and by round 23 they will be bottom 4, which they will then blame and everyone except themselves.

1. Geelong back into top 4.

2. Sydney will drop out of top the top 4.

3. Carlton will have their best season in years and likely make the top 6.

1. Richmond move into 9th after being 6-8 all year.
2. Carlton beat Collingwood in a Elimination final.
3. Geelong go close but ultimately lose the flag to West Coast.

1. As much I hate to say it, Collingwood vs West Coast/Swans grand final with Collingwood likely to win. Also, Geelong to make the top 4 with Adelaide giving way.

2. Vlad's departure as the AFL CEO to be just one of the heads on AFL commission.

3. Compensation to former Melbourne players whose careers were impacted due to tanking.

There is absolutely no guarantees that the Tigers improve this year. They lost 1 game to injury for their best 8 players last season in an extraordinary run and despite recruiting Chaplin, their backline is still very undersized.

North can maintain their run and be around the 6-10 mark.

Yes there is. It is a 100% that we will improve in 2013. Even if it's not by much (it should be by a lot though) we will still improve. Young players get another year of development, key players come back from injury, new recruits come in etc etc

Foley, Vickey, Grimes all missed nearly the whole season and the are arguably in our top 8 players. Plus guys like Griffiths, Astbury, King also where injured for a lot of the season.

Richmonds Backline Talls
Rance 194cm
Grimes 193cm
Chaplin 195cm
Griffiths 200cm

Hardly call that undersized

You don't remember Geelong in 2006?

Absolutely no guarantees. Apart from Griffiths who hasn't proved anything yet except he could get out on the park, your backline struggle with genuine power forwards. Hell Ryder tore Rance a new one in our first match up and he only kicked 11 goals for the year.

Who is your back up for big Ivan?

Yes there is.

How does our back line struggle against Key Forwards?
Franklin kicked 1 against us
Cloke kicked 2
Clarke kicked 2
Kennedy kicked 1
Hawkins kicked 1
Crameri kicked 1
Reid kicked 0

Richmond. Offseason. Improvement. Guarantee.

This seems vaguely familiar somehow.

Also, was that Crameri game where he kicked 1 goal....but had 21 possessions and 11 marks. Lucky he only kicked one goal...

Look, it is more than likely that you will improve but it is by no means a given. It is categorically a fact that you had an amazing run with injuries last year, and for the Tigers sake you will again hope that again occurs but it will be very unlikely. A stronger Richmond (as would a strong Dons) is great for the comp but you don't have a top 4 list and mediocre depth. If all things align, you might be lucky to finish 5th or 6th.

Do you realize when every single one except for Ryder happened? After Grimes got injured. When he was playing we kept all those fantastic players down to 0-2 goals, after he gets injured stuff like that happens. Next year we will have Grimes and Rance un-injured and Chaplin on top of that.
North had an amazing run with injuries, ours was good but not amazing. Losing 3 top 10 players for most of the year is hardly amazing.
Our list is pretty much top 4 quality now.

This is a sensible post. :thumbsu:

It really surprised me because a Geelong fan said something sensible and even complimentary about Hawthorn!!!
I kept reading, expecting a sting in the tale, then I realised the poster is new, only 6 posts.

Keep up the good work son, It's nice to find a Cat fan not still foaming at the mouth about 2008.

You follow a good club. Enjoy it, and good luck to you.

Thanks pal. Our two clubs share a magnificent modern footy rivalry don't they, and I have a lot of admiration for the Hawks. I was a Hawks fan on Grand Final day, I really wanted you guys to get over Sydney and finish off a wonderful year. I think you deserved the premiership, but I'm sure you'll get one soon. Looking forward to round 1 next year when the rivalry adds a new chapter. I hope we can keep our winning streak going, but the longer it goes on, the closer it comes to ending. Especially with our predicted fall down the table in the next few years.

I have come to terms with 2008. Part of the magnificence of success is achieving it in the face of failure. And we have won 3 premierships, and as a lifelong fan of my Cats, that is something I will cherish forever. 4 would have been even better, but 1 would have made me the happiest person on the planet. So I can look back on 2008 and feel happy that it was a part of our journey. And I am sure you will feel the same about 2012, because the Hawks will get another flag before this window is shut. Thanks for liking my post pal.

Lachy, you are far too nice and far too sensible to possibly be a Geelong supporter.:p
Unfortunately there are some, and that is both Hawks and Cats supporters that just can't let things rest.
Keep posting like that and you'll get along just fine with other Hawks supporters...

i think you could debate on the quality of backman and how we defend but to say by the end of the year we had an amazing run of injuries is just plain wrong. foley, vickery, grimes and batchelor all missed big chunks of games then add griffiths, astbury, king to provide role players. with as you said our depth is poor this means loosing these players hits our system hard. so while alot of our core played most games the loss of those players i mentioned introduced depth players not ready yet or not up to it. also these depths players i talk about were, some were missing as well ie helbig, arnot, dea for games as well. depth has been increased this off season so it will be interesting how it goes.

i would clarify that imo north had an 'amazing' run with injury.
