I'm not sure I said he was elite, but not many second year players are. Apart from Nick Daicos.

For 17 other clubs to want him you'd have to think he's pretty elite is all.

As an Adelaide supporter, you would have watched him a lot more than I have, but he has definitely done enough for the casual observer to sit up and take notice of him. He is a player who wants the ball in his hands in the big moments.

He is a small/medium forward, a role that doesn't lend itself to consistently strong performances week in, week out.

Well the end destination is as a midfielder. But he's not up to it yet. Time will tell, but as it stands I think he's overrated.

He has got potential.

Potential is defined as "having or showing the capacity to develop into something in the future."

I think that sounds like a description as overrated. If he goes on to become a good player then he won't be overrated. But as it stands I don't think he's as good as the hype around him suggests.

So people shouldn't get excited about young and emerging players?

Bah Humbug... you'd be fun at Christmas!

Carton fans seem to be a very insecure group. Fully understandable I suppose.
It’s hardly being insecure.

In response to your initial post and comparing two young players - One a year older than the other

One has / is -

A Larke Medal winner
Ron Evans Medal winner
AFLPA Best First Year Player
AFLCA Best Young Player
4 X 22 Under 22 - As Captain & VC
Mark of the Year
Club Best & Fairest
Top 5 Brownlow finish
Gary Ayres Best Finals Player
All Australian

And just turned 23 mid way through last year.

The other player is 22 and emerging. Showing great potential

Without naming the two players most would be able to identify where the real insecurities are coming from.

And a Fadge laugh to support your post…..😂

Cute.

Hang on. If we are talking about the same guy, apparently he is overrated. Or was that Butters? Or Rozee?

Luke Parker (Has he done a thing in any GF he’s played!?)…. Ben McKay (How on earth did a dead average backman get that salary!?)…Lachie Whitfield (Not a star like he’s made out to be, just a good reliable footballer with decent skills)….Alex Pearce (Can’t believe he’s a club captain)….Darcy Parish (Gets a lot of the ball, but doesn’t damage you in the slightest compared to other mids who get 30+).

He covers territory fine still. he just doesn't try and get the double up touches to rack up numbers now which he admitted. Been an invaluable influence on DeGoey and the Daicos boys with his professionalism

The similarities of him and Luke Ball are pretty on par.

Arrived at the club under utilised by previous club
Provided grunt and senior experience to some young guns around the coalface
Professionalism top shelf
Both had more to give at the new club and played in their natural role

Ask literally any Essendon supporter and we couldn't care less about North Melbourne

I would suggest its North supporters trying to create some sort of big brother/little brother notion that is simply not there. You're a little (step) brother if anything. We don't care

North and Essendon have not been a threat to anyone in a very long time and it is hard to create a rivalry with either team if both teams are pretty meek.

1. Papley

3. Shai Bolton
4. J Mcrae
5. Saad

Sam Draper

He's talked up in media as if it's a lay-down misere that he'll dominate the comp once fully fit as if he was previously or was so talented that he couldn't not. I swear he's done nothing. At least with most flashy players that aren't actually any good, you have a highlights reel to point at.

Now the contentious one is out of the way, some we can all agree on.

Reid
Sheezel
Butters
Naicos
