Dusty.

Remove his 3 grand finals, and the entirety of his career is pretty ordinary for a midfielder in regards to his standing.
Ok , you can remove his 3 grand finals, his finals games , his brownlow, his AFL most valuable player and call him ordinary.

Bigfooty - Where the moronic hordes come to graze and espouse nonsense. Enjoy.
It might be that it's off season and bf goes into wacky mode.

Recently I tried to have a conversation about a trade involving more than one moving part - my goodness. I would have had more luck explaining quantum mechanics to a small dog.

1. Nick Daicos - An awful lot of hype for a half back flanker racking up 30+ uncontested touches a game. Do not rate.
2. Max Gawn - Wins a ton of hitouts, few are effective. Only gets huge stats because of his time on ground. Garbage up forward. Proven he can't play with any other ruckman. Arguably loses his team more games than he wins.
3. Errol Gulden - Dime a dozen midfielder for me. Clearly an umpires pet given last years brownlow result. Don't understand the hype.
4. Jordan DeGoey - Played a handful of good games in his career, goes missing in the vast majority. Don't rate him as a midfielder at all.
5. Zach Merrett - High possession minimal impact footballer. Doesn't kick goals. Do not rate at all.

Show me 2 worse ones
And you can’t have gulden, discos and gawn as overrated

Current
Sam Draper, Sean Darcy, Jarrod Witts, Max Gawn, Mason Cox

Former
Nic Nat, Stefan Martin, Sam Jacobs, Kurt Tippett, Darren Jolly

High ends Rucks are a waste of cap space, most of them are s**t kicks, tap the ball to opposition or are useless defensively.
I don't disagree with your general premise or most of these players, but I disagree on Gawn. What sets him apart is not his tapwork (although excellent), but his around the ground marking. This has led to coaches having to change their entire gameplan to counteract his marking. He is not just the best ruck in recent years, but one of the best players.

Mason Cox is weirdly underrated. Holds his own in the ruck and pops up for an important goal or two quite regularly. I think most people just don't like him.

Time to repeat my favourite analogy: ruckmen are like toilets.

If you don't have a functional one at all at home, you have big problems. Things are going to get shitty, fast... and it often creates even worse mess if you try to cover by converting something else into one.

You can splurge and get a gold-plated, fancy one if you like (each to their own) but I'm not convinced it is the best use of limited funds. If you really get an all-time great one it can provide you with a memorable experience but it is going to cost you a fortune and there's usually better ways to spend your money, and even the fancy ones are prone to damage.

Most of the time, you are probably just better off having a couple of good solid ordinary ones, perhaps with a third somewhere in the house just in case one of the others breaks down...

Your analogy is a bit long winded

Maybe Rucks are like assholes …. ****ed if you dont have one and sometimes when you do

Some odd takes in this thread.

So here's some more;
Isaac heeney - the highlight reels show moments, id wager 80% of his "output" wouldn't have him in the swans top 5 at any point in career

Sam draper - is not the gawn/nicnat hybrid he's hyped up to be, and appears to like his bath water to boot. Worst thing to happen to him was a centre stage during gather rd. Get grounded son. A 37yo goldy is taking your spot.

Jake stringer - justifies the hype now and then, but like heeney 80% of the time its not there

Harry Mckay - that kicking. With his height and reach if he wasnt taking those marks he'd be delisted. Worst coleman winner in as long as i can remember

Bailey smith. Power runner and elite insta.
But save for the odd game here or there hasnt lived up to the billing of the pick(in a decent draft to boot) or the hype.

HM - bont. He's bloody good but the media gushing is a bit over the top for a guy who shanks it a bit too much for mine.
