Wright?

I also have a phobia of trading with Geelong after Smedts and Lang...

Overall I doubt it's 900k across the contract, not out of the realms of possibility that it's heavily front ended though
That's fine, as we have been paying 95% for a few years and Martin's 1st year was hugely front ended. Have heaps of space.

I had heard it's 5x750 so 900 in year 1 is fine.

Wow that's a lot of money for a HBFer / occasional Mid with a history of injury problems

Good luck to the Blues but at that price ....... no thanks!!

Especially when they have a lot of high profile youngsters who will want big contracts in the coming years

You would want to hope u make finals next year either way I think Blues fans best be prepared to lose a few.

OMG some of these posts are funny.

St K fan lectures Blues Re overpaying players.

Meanwhile outside winger Brad Hill on $900K for av of 16 possessions (1xCP) and 2 tackles per game.

Zach Williams is exactly what Carlton need - and he won’t be playing HBF.

Front ended contract when we’ve got oodles of $.

Well done Austin.

Great get for the Blues. They consistently get the best Giants player on offer each year. Not sure if Teague is the man to take them forward, but they're building a decent list down there.

Isn't Williams the first genuinely good one? Seems like until now all the best GWS players elect not to go to Carlton.

Plowman been great
Marchbank will be good
Williams & Setterfield will be excellent
Kennedy just needs to stay fit. Can play

Rest have been salary dumps and part of our list restructure. We have done well

Not even the most bias supporters would describe any of those names as the "best Giants players".

I would trade Kennedy myself if we got a good offer tbh

That GWS group will eventually make up a core part of best 18 and cost relatively little.

When getting out of wooden spoon territory this is what needs to be done.

2 x R1 picks for Dylan Shiel however...................

A lot to pay for a turnover king

The difference is we are playing Finals ........ the Blues are not!!

You also have a bunch of "supposed" young stars currently underperforming but soon they will be wanting big new deals

I wish the Blues well but I think you will find you will need to shed a few of these young turks down the line given you will not be able to satisfy their future wage requirements

Someone also mentioned you are after Narkle / Saad / Graham - doubt they will sign on with the Blues just to be depth players so don't be disappointed when a few clubs come calling and some young players not getting a look in want out.

Every year there seems a lot of hype surrounding the Blues but currently they have failed to deliver after years of high draft picks and high profile trades

If Blues miss finals next year ........

Anyway best of luck with your new back flanker Williams :thumbsu:

Finals? So what?

Come back when your club has 2 flags.

Getting more than he's worth, but that's what it takes to pry a gun player from another club.

But i think this should mark the official end of any excuses for Carlton as still being developing. Minimum expectations for 2021 has to be finals. Teague should come out and say it.
I know you are probably dick trolling but I agree.

We almost made it this year with no Charlie, a half baked Cripps and a recovering Docherty.

Those are 3 of our best 5 players who will be improved or in Charlie's case like a new recruit.

Add Williams and really no excuses.
