Traded Zach Tuohy [traded to Geelong with 2017 2nd rd pk for Smedts, 2017 1st rd pk and pick 63]

Smedts adds zero value to the trade, he is a complete spud who will be delisted in a year (or two because I assume we gave him a 2yr deal).

Terrible deal for Carlton. FFS Silvagni you better not screw up the Gibbs deal too

Smedts is basically a salary dump for us as you guys are paying his contract.

Similar to the menzel deal last year. Feels like unders If both teams finish where expected. But if it helps the gws trade, then it's not so bad.

Cats are the new Port in hating 1sts

So i gather the 2 in 4 rule has now been binned and will now pave the way for top teams to just throw 1st rounders away year after year to land young guns unless Geelong have been told that have to trade back into the 2017 1st round next year, if not then pandora's box just got opened.

If we can get Smedts body right and keep him on the park he could be real handy for us and he can play.

Massive X factor player that can turn games on their head with 3 possessions.

I likey and well done SOS.
I feel sick reading that. Cmon man why would you say such a thing, and in public aswell

Echoes of the Menzel for 28 & Kerridge deal. Doesn't look good on the surface, but likely SOS has reached agreement with GWS that they'll part with Marchbank and Pickett (and maybe one more makes it a better deal) for a late 1st. If it turns out to be Zac + 2017 2nd (#20) for Marchbank, Pickett, third GWS player, Smedts it's a decent outcome.

Tell that to most Carlton fans who seem to think that with Gibbs gone, Tuohy gone, and potential development in Essendon/Gold Coast/Fremantle, that you'll likely slip a few spots as you cement the rebuild.

Which isn't a bad thing, you need time into those young key position players from 2015 and the midfielders you will pick up this year. Another top 5 pick next year won't go astray either.

We are hard to kick goals against - our defence is our saving grace. Hope Gibbs stays and Murphy plays full season.

Hopefully McKay, Curnow and Silvagni play the full year together.

His body is the issue not his talent.

You guys took him at #15 with your 1st pick in 2010 which he competed to get into a Flag winning side and then he was struck down with injury.

I am happy regardless what Cat supporters think in hindsight after the fact he has been traded.

for a 24 year old Smedts is rubbish... maybe a new environment will help him but not counting on it... another Tutt running out in VFL
